| After the long winter break, the 2010 season kicked off with the traditional 40 over friendly at Birmingham League hosts, Harborne who went away as 32 run victors. The hosts posted 178-8 with Geoff Edmunds taking 3-45 from 7 overs, whilst Roger Kelsey took a frugal 2-18 off his 7 overs whilst Tom Kane and Dave Edmunds took a wicket a piece. Mike Watts was in early season form behind the stumps taking 2 catches and 2 stumpings. In reply, Mitch Lowe top scored for the Town hitting 39 with 5 boundaries, followed by Mark Deeley with 29 – also 5 boundaries, Dave Edmunds 25 who hit the first 6 of the season. Adie Sellar and Mike Watts chipped in with 16 each but it was Harborne’s Kitchen who wrapped up the Town tail taking 3-14 after Ward had earlier taken 2-33, Charitl 2-35 and Waj 2-42 as the Town were bowled out for 146. | |||||

| The Town 1’s enjoyed their first victory of the 2010 season with a 118 run success at Norton Lindsey. Before the match both teams assembled along the boundary edge for a minutes silence in memory of Joan Went, wife of Kenilworth Cricket Club’s President, who passed away during the week. Kenilworth were asked to bat first and took full advantage of a short pavilion side boundary to post 290-5 from there 40 overs. Opener Dave Edmunds set the tone for the innings with 89 from 61 balls with 12 x 4’s and 5 x 6’s but he was overshadowed by Mitch Lowe who entertained fellow players and spectators alike on his way to an unbeaten 138 from 68 balls with 10 x 4’s and 13 x 6. Special mention must go to Mike Watts who made 28 and contributed to a 6th wicket partnership of 118 from 72 balls with Lowe. For Norton Lindsey, Culverwell was the most successful bowler taking 2-37 , McInnes 1-37 , P. Ashley 1-29 and Webber 1-52. In reply, Norton Lindsay struggled against some fine bowling and fielding. J. Ashley top scored with 35, Tustain 34 and Andrews 31 were the only other batsman to pass 20 as the innings terminated on 172 with 3 overs of the allocation unused. Geoff Edmunds claimed 3-18, as well as 2 catches, Pete Alty took 2-61, Mitch Lowe 2-2, Adrian Sellar 2-17 and youngster Matt Bolshaw 1-27. | Colt 16 year old Pat Howard was the star of the day for the Town as they secured a 6 wicket win at Norton Lindsey. The left arm spinner claimed an impressive 5-29 as the hosts were pegged to 128-9 in their 40 overs. Fellow spinners Andy Kennell took 2-10 and Rob Heath 1-14 whilst Lewis Phillips also took 1-14. Morris 26, Pozzi 18 and Somal 17* top scored for Norton Lindsey. In reply, the Town eased to victory with 3 overs to spare after debutant Simon Lee had hit 41 that included 6 boundaries. James Alty chipped in with 22, Patrick Jenkinson and Richard Collinson 14. Hall, Maundall, Ashley and Fell shared the wickets. | |||||

| Town’s James Nason secured a 23 run victory over Tamworth with an excellent all round performance. He first hit a solid 67 in the side’s total of 189-5 sharing in a 54 run 1st wicket partnership with Dave Temple and then a 2nd wicket one of 82 with Mark Deeley 34. Dave Edmunds hit 30* whilst Pranay Turlapati chipped in with 15. Pick of the Tamworth bowlers was Chance with 3-11. Shanks and Onions were the other wicket takers. Nason then starred in the field taking 3-32 and two sharp catches. Roger Kelsey took 2-46 whilst Andy Smith celebrating his 800th Club appearance, Geoff Edmunds and Turlapati chipped in with a wicket each. There were two run outs after C. Render had earlier hit 47, J. Fearn 51 and C. Green 21 but their efforts were in vain as Tamworth were all out for 166 on the last ball of the match. | |||||

| The Town 2’s eased to an 8 wicket win after Wellesbourne posted 107-10 in 26.2 overs as Cherry 40 Alford 28 were only batsmen to pass 20. For the Town, skipper, Rob Heath took a frugal 3-8 , whilst father and son duo of Pete Alty and James Alty took 2-16 and 2-24 respectfully. In reply, it took 32.5 overs to reach 110-2 with Michael Faulkner hitting 31 and newbie Richard Collinson 36* as Cavless took 1-19 and Rothwell 1-23 for the visitors. | |||||

Batting first, the Town posted 172-5 thanks to Dave Edmunds hitting 55 and James Nason 69, In reply, Wellesbourne found the bowling too strong for them as they could only muster 70-10 with Maynard the top run maker with 20. Lee Melville took 3-15, colt Matt Bolshaw 2-11 and Gregg Peebles 2-19 for the Town. | |||||

| Rain brought an early conclusion to the Town’s Sunday 1st XI match at Dumbleton who had posted 228-8 in their 40 overs. Fish made 53 for the hosts and was well supported by former KCC player, Adam Stuart 48*, Carver 40 and Emery 30. James Nason was the Town’s star performer with the ball as he claimed 3-26 from 8 tidy overs whilst Mitch Lowe chipped in with 2-37, Dave Edmunds 2-45 and Geoff Edmunds 1-14. Only 3.2 overs were faced by the Town side before rain halted the proceedings after they had made a quickfire start with Dave Edmunds unbeaten on 27 off only 13 balls with 6 x 4 and Mark Deeley 9 not out. | |||||

| In a low scoring affair the Town 2’s lost by 3 wickets in a match that both sides could have won. The Town struggled to 115-8 off their 50 overs. However, Richard Collinson was the pick of the Town batsmen as he made 27. Michael Faulkner and Steve Kelley both hit 17 whilst Jeff Stanners made 15. Araz claimed 4-34 for the hosts. In reply, Walsall YMF found conditions equally difficult but they reached 116-7 as the Town rued a few costly dropped catches. Classy spinner Andy Kennell took 3-22, whilst paceman Pete Alty claimed 2-36 and colt Phil Edmonds 1-27. Fellow spinner, Andy Smith, in his 22nd season in Town colours, achieved a rare milestone when he took his 1000th wicket for the Club. | |||||

Debutant, Chris Beach was the pick of the Town bowlers with a fine 2-13 off 8 overs, whilst Sam Leach and Indy Matharu both took 1-17 and veteran Roger Kelsey 1-24. In reply, the side ease to a 7 wicket win inside 21 overs after Chris Wallsgrove had blasted 26, Colin Goodall 20 and Ed Smith an unbeaten 12* as the sde reached 73-3. | |||||

| An unbeaten 69 from man of the match James Nason helped the 1s to victory in there opening game of the 2010 WACL Premier Division season against Warwick. Earlier Warwick having been put into bat amassed 182-7 in there 50 overs largely thanks to an unbeaten 90 off 131 balls from skipper Jamie Coleman and Steve Smith with 29 was the only other batsman to pass 20. For the Town, Gregg Peebles claimed 3-53 and was unfortunate not to add to his wicket tally, Mitch Lowe, 2-39 and Tom Kane 1-19. In reply, Dave Edmunds made 47 before it was left to Nason and a rapid 22 off 8 balls from Mitch Lowe to seal a 7 wicket victory with as they reached 183-3 with more than 8 overs to spare. | The Town 2’s lost out in a high scoring affair in their 40 over friendly with Harborough South after posting 203-5. Dave Temple hit a solid 58, Dave Edmunds 50 not out whilst Pranay Turlapati and Richard Strange both chipped in with 30 each. However, the side had no answer to a hard hitting knock from man of the match, Harborough’s Wayne Steed who virtually single handedly led the side to victory with 14 balls to spare as he blasted an unbeaten 142 as they reached 205-5. Panter was the side’s next highest scorer with 20. Dave Edmunds took 2-29, Roger Kelsey 2-40 and Turlapati 1-11 as all other bowlers suffered at the hands of Steed. | |||||

| A 5 wicket haul from Man of the Match, Geoff Edmunds, was not enough as the Town 1’s suffered a narrow 2 run defeat to Premier Division newcomer Highway. Highway had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss and at 120-2 look set for a very substantial total thanks to opener Dean Marsh who made 65 from 103 balls and Dave Thornton 33 from 40, as they put on 76 together for the 2nd wicket before he was 1 of 7 lbw victims in the match. Some fine bowling from Edmunds 5-42, Gregg Peebles 2-36 and Mitch Lowe 3-65 saw Highway dismissed for 210 off 50 overs. They were aided by a couple of fine catches from veteran Mark Deeley and Adrian Sellar. In reply, Kenilworth slumped to 34-2 after Dave Edmunds had hammered 29 from 24 balls but a 134 run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Adrian Sellar 62 from 64 balls with 9 x 4’s and 2 x 6’s and opener James Nason who also eventually fell for 62 from 115 balls took Kenilworth to 138-3 with 21 overs remaining and well set for victory. Mike Watts joined Nason and their 57 run partnership for the 6th wicket left Kenilworth needing just 23 from the last 10 overs with 5 wickets still remaining. However, there was a twist as a fine spell of leg spin bowling from Jamie Marsh changed the match in Highway’s favour as he took 4 wickets for just 7 runs to give him final figures of 4-48 and the Kenilworth innings terminated on 208 in a tense and exciting finish. | An unbeaten 133 from Ansley’s Andy Davies was the difference between the two sides in their drawn game with the Town 2’s as he led them to 243-9. Simpson and Chris Davies were the sides next highest scorers with 29 a piece. Colt, 15 year old, Pat Howard took 3-57 for the Town. Andy Kennell took 2-44 and Pete Alty 2-63 whilst Andy Smith chipped in with a wicket. Keeper Jack Edwards took a sharp stumping and a smart catch behind the sticks. In reply, the Town were kept in the hunt thanks to a solid 65 from Howard who hit 10 boundaries and 41 from Richard Strange. Pranay Turlapati added 22, Mark Stranks made 19, Richard Collinson 17 and Edwards 15 but the innings fell away after Ansley’s Danny Phillips had taken 5-31 and the Town settled for a draw ending on 216-9. | |||||

| Kenilworth began their 2010 Warwickshire Sunday League season with a 43 run victory over Birmingham League Premier Division neighbours Kenilworth Wardens. The Town side batted first on winning the toss and made a sizeable 240-6 from 40 overs thanks to 47 from Lee Melville, Adrian Sellar 50 and Mitch Lowe who made a rapid 40 from 37 balls. Wardens used 8 bowlers – the most successful of which was overseas player Kotak with 2-11. In reply, Wardens started slowly and never looked like reaching the set target and ended on 197-8. Kotak completed a fine all round game with an unbeaten 105 from 99 balls with 11 boundaries but he received no support from his fellow batsmen. Skipper Mark Deeley top scored for the Town with 38 – an innings that included 7 boundaries, followed by Pranay Turlapati with 35 (6 x 4 and a six), Aaron Fermahan 26 (3 x 4), Anthony Kerry 16 and Declan Simmons 11 as Stan took 3-43. In reply, the Wardens had Minesh to lead the side to victory with 7 balls to spare as he reached 82 not out after Shashi had earlier made 23 and Jayanti 20. | The Town 1’s had to settle for a draw in their latest WACL Premier Division match v Handsworth. Handsworth won the toss and had no hesitation in making first of an excellent looking Warwick Road wicket and amassed 247-8 in 50 overs. Skipper Renrick Hooper made 81 from 53 balls with 4 x 4s and 6 x 6s as he received good support from Anton Johnson 48 and opener Carby Dawkins 43. For the Town, Geoff Edmunds took his second 5 wicket haul in as many games with 5-53 whilst Gregg Peebles 3-74 was the only other wicket taker. In reply, Kenilworth looked well set at 115-0 in 24 overs to achieve their victory target but openers Dave Edmunds who made 66 from 63 balls with 10 x 4s and Mark Deeley 40 from 90 balls both fell in quick succession but the rest of the batting struggled against a fine spell of bowling from Man of the Match, Clifton Folkes, who finished with figures of 6-47 as the innings ended on 188-7. | In a match that saw Senior debuts for 3 under 15 players, the Town 2’s claimed an 18 run win over Birmingham League neighbours, Leamington, at their Arlington Avenue ground after posting 209 with all batsmen chipping in. Skipper for the day, Dave Temple made 27, colt Charlie Stranks 24 and dad, Mark, 23, Declan Simmons 19, Adrian Kettle 18, colt Adam Devoile 12 whilst the tail wagged as Roger Kelsey hit 21. Spa’s Dale took 5-17, Standard 3-31 and Budd 2-29. Dale continued his fine game as he blasted an unbeaten 108 but his efforts were in vain as the side were bowled out for 191. Veteran spinners Andy Smith took 2-15 and Kelsey 1-40 whilst youngsters Simmons claimed 2-11, Devoile 1-44 and James Kettle 2-32 who took the final wicket to secure a fine win. | The Sunday 1’s continued their unbeaten start to the season with another home victory this time against against Walmley. Walmley batted first and made first use of a wicket that had yielded nearly 450 runs on Saturday. Opener Carlos Prowse carried his bat for 92 from 122 balls and there were other useful contributions from Kyle McDonald 34 Nathan Hill 28 and Andrew Hendry 24. For the Town father and son, Geoff and Dave Edmunds, took 1-29 and 1-40 respectively with youngster Ben Whidborne adding 1-47 as Walmley totalled 222-4 in their 40 overs. In reply, Kenilworth achieved a 6 wicket victory with more than 2 overs to spare largely thanks to a 4th wicket partnership of 90 from 88 between Adrian Sellar who made 73 from 82 balls 4 x 4s and 4 x 6s and Dave Edmunds who was unbeaten on 62 from 50 balls 5 x 4s 3 x 6s as they reached 224-4. | The Town 3’s lost out in a rain reduced match that turned into a 25 over a side slogathon with Southam coming out winners after the Town 3’s had posted what appeared to be a solid 185-7. Ed Smith was the leading run scorer with an unbeaten 36, whilst opening colts James Alty and Rob Gardner had earlier made 30 and 35 respectfully and Aaron Fermahan 25. Muggleston took 4-58. In reply, Southam successfully took up the challenge and came home 6 wicket victors reaching 186-4 with 3.2 overs to spare, thanks to 72 from Russell, Jones 44 and Dittom 24. Andy Smith with 2-53 and Jaesh Naik 1-26 were the only Town wicket takers. | |||||

| The Town 1’s had to settle for a frustrating winning draw at Atherstone after rain forced an abandonment that prevented an exciting finish as Kenilworth required just 9 runs for victory and Atherstone 3 wickets. Play got underway at 2.30pm with match reduced to 41 overs, Town skipper, Geoff Edmunds, had no hesitation in asking Atherstone to bat first but other than Mike Pickering 28 and Colin Griggs 27 nobody else passed 20 as Atherstone were dismissed for 115 in 37.3 overs – leaving the Town 44 overs to achieve their target. Geoff Edmunds led the attack with 4-22, Pete Alty 3-33, Mitch Lowe 2-36 and Gregg Peebles 1-22. In reply, Kenilworth look well placed for victory at 70-3 thanks to a 3rd wicket stand of 60 between Mark Deeley who made 34 and Adrian Sellar who continued his recent good form with 36. A few more wickets tumbled but Mike Watts and Geoff Edmunds steadied the ship at 90-7 and they reached 107-7 and were well on course for victory when a second rain interruption caused the match to be abandoned. For Atherstone, Matt Pickering led the attack with 3-28, Bhavesh Parmar 2-10 and Neil Cowdrey 1-15. Kenilworth 14 points, Atherstone 7 – a good haul considering the weather. | |||||

Adil led the way for Ashfield with 47, Docka 39 and number 11, Kamran, who blasted 26*. Roger Kelsey took 2-31, Sean Burke 2-34 for the Town whilst there was a wicket a piece for 15 yr old Theo McBrien, Josh Meszar and veteran Mark Deeley. In reply, the Town started well putting on 66 for the first wicket inside 8 overs as Guy Pearson made 32 with Tom Anscombe who went on to make 33. Andy Dadswell at 4 was the last man out for a well crafted 51 but he lost partners regularly when the mid order collapsed. 3 self induced run outs put paid to any chance of chasing down the Ashfield total and the Town ended 177 all out with 6 overs spare. | The Town 2’s recorded their first win of the League campaign in an empathic style as they were 9 wicket victors over Solihull Blossomfield in a high scoring match with 4.2 overs to spare. Blossomfield had posted 236-9 largely thanks to opener Bannister who made 104 as he and Murray 32 put on 90 for the first wicket. However, no other player past the 11 run mark as Pranay Turlapati took 3-20, colt Phil Edmonds 1-23, Andy Kennell 1-54 and Rob Heath 2-76. In reply, the Town openers were impressive as they put on 235 for the first wicket as Mark Stranks hit 116* – an innings that included 12 boundaries and one 6 whilst Rob Collinson made 96 off 126 balls with 8 boundaries, only to be cruelly denied a well deserved century but his efforts were enough with Stranks to see the Town reach 240-1 and victory. | |||||

| The Town 1’s claimed their 2nd winning draw of the Bank Holiday with a 17 point haul at home to Solihull Blossomfield. Kenilworth were asked to bat first and made 216-8 from their 50 overs. Several batsmen made starts but only Mitch Lowe 34 from 29 balls and 53 from Man of the Match, Charlie Leonard, in 72 balls were only batsmen to pass 20. Rob Edmond 2-24 Harvey Satterthwaite 2-57 were Bloss’ leading bowlers. In reply, Blossomfield’s chance of any upset were dashed when they were reduced from 133-3 to 138-5 and then lost a further 3 quick wickets in mid order after a fine spell of bowling from James Nason who took 3-26 as the visitors ended on 179-8 after Bashir had made 46 and Edmond 32. The other successful Town bowlers were Edmunds with 2-14 and one a piece for Gregg Peebles, Leonard and colt Matt Bolshaw who took a fine caught and bowled to remove the Bloss opener. | |||||

| Kenilworth enjoyed their 3rd successive winning draw with a 17 point haul at Premier Division newcomers, Streetly. The Town side had no hesitation in making first use of a good looking Briar Avenue track with some extremely small boundaries but soon slumped to 40-4. However, good contributions from the middle order – Lee Melville with 55, Gregg Peebles 59, Mitch Lowe 42 and 35 from keeper Mike Watts took the final total to 249-8 from 50 overs. Streetly’s Javid Tariq took 3-64, new signing Deepak Chabra 2-47, Crutchley 2-52 and Matt Bates 2-4. In reply, Streetly were soon in trouble at 67-5 but an 87 run 6th wicket partnership between skipper Russ Guy, who top scored with 60, before he was bowled by Pete Alty and Sam Bates who was unbeaten on 56 – his maiden league 50 – gave Streetly an outside chance of victory but despite some late hitting from Oliver Crutchley who made 36 from just 23 balls Streetly were left to settle for 12 point haul on 206-8 when the overs ran out. Peebles and colt Matt Bolshaw each took 2-38 whilst stalwart Geoff Edmunds claimed 2-15, Alty 1-61 and Mitch Lowe 1-12 for the Town. | |||||

| A bucketful of dropped catches condemned the Town 2’s to defeat when they spilt half a dozen chances as Pickwick came home with 3 balls to spare in a high scoring affair. The Town had posted 251-9 with 16 year old colt, Pat Howard,leading the way with an impressive 70. Mark Stranks chipped in with a fine 60, Richard Collinson 27, Jack Edwards at 9 with 25 and Rob Heath 20 as Shazaz took 5-63 and Khan 3-48. In reply, R. Ali set the visitors up for victory as he was dropped 4 times on his way to 82. Further chances were also missed as S. Ali made 31, Faruqui 30 and Khan 27. Pickwick timed their innings perfectly and came home in the final over reaching 252-8. 3 direct hit run outs helped the Town cause but 3-46 from Ali Peebles and 2-49 from Howard were in vain. | |||||

| The Town 3’s enjoyed a solid 4 wicket win after successfully chasing down Weoley Hill’s score of 206. Tiplady made 80 for the hosts whilst three other batsmen fell in their 20’s. Colts James Alty and Theo McBrien took 4-28 and 2-37 respectively. There was a wicket a piece for Indy Matharu and Roger Kelsey. In reply, the Town reached 209-6 with 9 balls to spare after Nigel Thompson had earlier made 57 and Alty 49. Andy Dadswell made 26 before Ed Smith with 27* and Kelsey 10* led the side to victory. | |||||

| Only 22 overs were possible before thunderstorms called a premature halt to the match when the Town 2’s were 81-3 in their 40 over friendly at Lutterworth with Rooshab Shah unbeaten on 33 and Lewis Phillips 13 not out. It meant that both sides, had to suffer a fabulous tea of home made food from the wonderful tea ladies – one that won’t be beaten this year at all. Well done, Lutterworth! | |||||

| The Town’s Sunday 1st XI beat Birmingham League rivals, Harborne, by 8 wickets in a rain effected game at Warwick Road. Harborne batting first made 222-7 from their 40 overs largely thanks to former Indian test player, SS Das, who made made 97 from 89 balls but he received good support from Tom Arnold 29 and Adrian Willoughby who was unbeaten on 42 from only 36 balls. Town’s Rupesh Sarvankar took 2-40, Mitch Lowe 2-42, Pranay Turlapati 1-46, Geoff Edmunds 1-43 and James Nason 1-29. A 90 minute rain delay left Kenilworth requiring 112 from 20 overs to win which they duly reached with 16 deliveries remaining. Opener Nason was unbeaten on 40 but he was overshadowed by Rupesh Sarvankar who made 61 from only 44 balls with 5 x 4s and 2 x 6s. For Harborne, Greg Siddell 1-29 and Sid Ahmed 1-19 were the only wicket takers. | |||||

| The Town 2’s trip to Bronze turned into disappointment as they succumbed to a 47 run defeat despite a career best performance from 16 year old colt, Phil Edmonds, who took a stunning 7-46. However, Bronze managed to post a stiff 211 despite his efforts as Badger made 78 and Power 46. In reply, only teenager, Jack Edwards showed any form with the bat as he made a solid 64 but his efforts were in vain as the side were bowled out for 164. | |||||

| Kenilworth claimed a maximum point haul as they cruised to a 10 wicket victory over bottom of the Division, Aston Unity. Unity chose to bat first but could only manage 119-9 as Matt Turner with 28 not out was the only batsman to pass 20 as extras were next top scorer with 23. For the Town, Pete Alty impressed to earn his first Man of the Match award with a fine 4-22, to which added Mitch Lowe 2-19, Matt Bolshaw 1-18 and Gregg Peebles 1-47. In reply, Kenilworth completed victory inside 20 overs as openers Dave Edmunds, skipper for the day and James Nason were unbeaten on 64 and 43 respectively in the side’s emphatic win as they reached 122-0 with ease. | |||||

Bacon added 50 and Hafeez 34 after James Nason had taken 3-34, Dave Edmunds 3-53 and Rupesh Sarvankar 1-47 for the Town. Chasing Kenilworth target had been adjusted to 220 of 30 over due to rain. They were 90-1 off 15.1 overs when the match was finally abandoned with Sarvankar unbeaten on 45 after Edmunds had made perished on 27. | |||||

A minute’s silence was conducted by both teams as rememberance for Club stalwart and legend, Ray Courts, who had passed away during the week, Barby were invited to bat first by stand in skipper Steve Kelley and made 260-6 in their allocated overs thanks to Seager who made 125 and Lester 65 as the 3rd wicket partnership yielded 170 runs. Pat Howard took 2-81 and Pranay Turlapati 3-31 for the Town who in reply settled on 233-7 and 10 pts. Opener Stranks continued his recent good form with 57 whilst Lewis Phillips made 42, Howard 35 and keeper Jack Edwards 39. Norton took 1-44, P. Invited to bat first by Ashfield Skipper Ian Carey, Kenilworth amassed 348-5 in 50 overs with 152 runs coming in the last 10 overs largely thanks to a 5 wicket partnership of 152 in only 74 balls with Mitch Lowe top scoring on 83 from 34 and Lee Melville who was unbeaten on 65 from 42 balls but there were also valuable contributions from Dave Edmunds 40 and Adrian Sellar 48 and James Nason 61. For Ashfield, Qasim Shah took 2-73, Iltaf Rehman 1-93, Nigel Udoh 1-57 and Omar Shah 1-73. A nail biting climax was guaranteed after opener Dave Temple made 42 and skipper Mark Deeley 51 but the side could not quite reach the winning post in a most tense and entertaining finish and were 237-9 when overs ran out. | |||||

The 3’s posted an impressive 292-9 wth Ed Smith blasting an unbeaten 89 as he smashed 12 boundaries and 4 sixes. James Alty made 40 and Chris Wallsgrove 46 whilst number 11 Lewis Barge made an unbeaten 33 as Cunningham took 3-26 and Cooner 2-55. Rugby Oakfield tried to chase down the score as Wilding hit 73, Richardson 36 and McGregor 28 but overs ran out and their innings ended on 251-7 as Roger Kelsey took 3-47, Jaesh Naik 2-26, Smith 1-36 and Alty 1-18. In reply, openers Dave Temple and 16 year old James Alty put on 111 for the first wicket and set up victory as colt Alty made his long awaited maiden half century in Senior cricket with 55 off 50 balls with 11 boundaries after a recent run of scores in the 40’s. For Town, veteran Ali Peebles rolled back the years with 2-37, Dave Edmunds 1-40, Rupesh Sarvankar 1-30 and colt Matt Bolshaw 1-29. The Town won the toss and invited Fillongley to bat first and this appeared to be a good decision as Fillongley slumped to 67-5 but a partnership of 94 in 98 balls from Andrew Carty who made 45 from 64 balls and a quick fire 58 from 67 balls from Tom Barber with 7 x 4s and 3 x 6s lifted them to a final total of 209 all out from 48.5 overs. For Town, wily left arm spinner, Geoff Edmunds, snapped up 4-40, whilst paceman, Gregg Peebles, took 3-45, Matt Bolshaw 2-53 and Dave Edmunds 1-25. This left Kenilworth with 51 overs to reach their victory target as they got off to a rapid start with 50 in first 10 overs. However, once Dave Edmunds was out for a run a ball 41, the only other partnership of significance was 79 runs for the 5 wicket between Mark Deeley who made 46 and Peebles who completed a fine all round game to take the man of the match honours with 51 as no other batsmen made starts and the innings closed on 180-7. In reply, the Town batsmen could only make 163 all out although Dave Temple and Phillips both made 40 a piece and skipper Deeley 28. | A fine all round performance from Rupesh Sarvankar helped Town Sunday 1’s maintain their unbeaten start to the League season and also progress into the League Cup final of the Warwickshire Sunday League 1st XI. The Town won toss and chose to bat first on a fine look Warwick Road surface and amassed a substantial total of 253-8 in 40 overs. Sarvankar top scored with 55 from 49 balls with 9 x 4s and there were good contributions from fellow opener, Dave Edmunds 35 from 38 balls and a brutal 41 from Mitch Lowe whose innings only lasted 15 balls but it saw him smash 1 x 4 and 5 x 6s – including 31 off an over from Ali Awan. Pranay Turlapati was unbeaten on 31 when the innings closed after Geoff Edmunds had hit 26. For Moseley, Clement led the attack with 3-45, Ali Awan took 2-61, Patel 1-46 and Tim Holland 1-21. In reply, Moseley recovered from 127-5 with a couple of good mid order partnerships but were eventually dismissed for 232 to leave Kenilworth victors by 21 runs. Skipper Omar Awan top scored with 41, his brother and wicketkeeper, Abdullah 40, Clement and Recardo Gordon both hit 33. The Town side batted first and posted 258-9 with Dalrymple hitting 102 with 13 boundaries and 2 x 6. Mark Stranks chipped in with 29, Steve Kelley 28, Lewis Phillips 26 and Rob Heath 21 not out as Araf took 4-72 for the visitors. Dalrymple continued his fine all round game to claim 3-33 with the ball but Rasool posted 55 and then Ali led the visitors to victory with an unbeaten 87 as they reached 259-7. Lee Meville contributed 33 as the innings closed on 242-8 from 50 overs. For Warwick, Craig Downing led the attack with 3-58 and James Wynn Evans chipped in with 2-73. In reply other than 79 from skipper Jamie Coleman next highest score was extras with 14 as Warwick were content with the draw at 141-7 when the overs ran out. His impressive innings included 15 boundaries and he was ably assisted by Nigel Thompson who made 47. Chris Wallsgrove added an unbeaten 28 with 5 x 4 in the side’s total of 230-5 who declared early. Blossomfield were no match as they were skittled out for 82 inside 30 overs as Roger Kelsey snapped up a fine 5-27, Lewis Barge 2-11, Josh Meszar 2-30 and Theo McBrien 1-17 as the Town eased to victory. | |||||

| The Town 2’s achieved a nail biting 9 run win after posting 193-5 as Andy Dadswell hit a solid unbeaten 68 with 11 x 4 and Dave Temple 39 whilst Ant Kerry chipped in with 30 and colt Patrick Jenkinson 17. In reply, Minesh Patel had hit 62 and Dipesh Patel 60 to ensure that a tight finish would be on the cards. However, the Town bowlers and fielders remained focussed and gave a great all round fielding performance ripping through the Wardens’ mid order and tail as they were bowled out for 184 with 9 balls of the match left to give the Town a much deserved win. Andy Smith had earlier taken 2-24 off his 8 overs, Roger Kelsey 2-46, Tom Pope 1-29 and James Alty 1-55 but it was left to Kerry 2-12 and skipper Mark Deeley 2-16 to wrap up the Wardens innings as they held their nerves. | The Sunday 1’s unbeaten WSL Division 1 record finally came to an end as they suffered a 83 defeat to neighbours Kenilworth Wardens. Wardens chose to bat first and they amassed a substantial score of 268-6 in their 40 overs on an excellent surface with a fast outfield. Skipper Martin Donald top scored with 77 from just 65 but there were also half centuries from Alastair Wilkinson 60 from 87 balls before he was superbly run out by Ben Whidborne and a quick fire 66 from 41 balls from Shitanshu Kotak. For Town, Rupesh Sarvanker led the attack with 2-63. In reply the top 4 batsmen all made starts but nobody went on as Kenilworth could only muster 185-7 from there 40 overs. Rupesh Sarvankar and Pat Howard both made 31, Lewis Phillips 28 and Dave Edmunds 27 but no other batsmen passed 20. For Wardens seamer Dan Wood 2-31 and spinners Scott Stenning 2-35 and young Daniel Vernon 2-31 were leading wicket taker in a day to forget for the town. | |||||

R Patel chipped in with 33 as the 4 Town bowlers used were unable to make regular breakthroughs. Spinner Andy Smith was the most economical taking 1-50 off his 15 overs, Pete Alty took 1-77 of his 15, colts Phil Edmonds took 1-52 off 10 and Pat Howard 2-73 off 10 as Simon Lee took two good catches in the field. | Kenilworth remain at the top of the WSL Division 1 after overcoming Walmley by 14 runs in a high scoring game containing 646 runs. Kenilworth made first use of an excellent surface and made 330-6 from their 40 overs just 10 runs short of their record Sunday League score of 340 which came against King’s Heath in 2007. Dave Edmunds made the first 1st XI league century of the season with 101 from 76 balls with 12 x 4s and 4 x 6s whilst fellow opener Rupesh Sarvankar made 76 from 64 balls as they put on 175 in just 130 balls for the opening wicket partnership. Once they both fell, it was left to Mitch Lowe who made 91 from just 43 balls with 5 x 4s and 10 x 6s to take Kenilworth to their final total. For Walmley, Kyle McDonald impressed with 4-46 and Warwickshire Under 16 player, Dominic Burnett, claimed 1-57. In reply, Walmley fell just short of victory 316-8 when the overs ran out. McDonald completed a fine all round game with 61 from just 27 balls but it was Burnett who top scored with 74 from 72 balls. Highway were invited to bat first and took full advantage as they amassed 275-7 in their 50 overs mainly thanks to a partnership of 158 for the 2nd wicket between Dave Thornton who made 87 from just 74 balls and Jamie Marsh 79. Once they both fell, it was left to Steve Vaughan who made 46 from 39 balls before he was superbly run out by Tom Lawrence attempting a second run to take Highway to their final total. Tristan Glanfield took 2-17, Hughes 1-18 from 8 overs, Bishop 1-15 and Duguid 1-28, whilst Warwickshire Ladies Under 14, Sophie Glanfield was unlucky to concede 35 runs from her 8 impressive overs. Harborne had no hesitation in batting first after winning toss and they made 260 all out with 2 overs of their allocation unused. This was largely due to 2 sizeable partnerships for the 3rd and 4th wickets of 82 and 114 respectively. Former Indian test player, SS Das, top scored as he did in the game at Warwick Road earlier in season with 89 from just 42 balls, opener Robert Powell made 62 and Kieran Iyer 33. For the Town, colt Phil Edmonds, led the attack with 3-62 to which Tom Pope added 2-32. Kenilworth after winning toss chose to bat first on a wicket that was certain to deteriorate and made 220 all out from 50 overs. Dave Edmunds top scored with 67 from 69 balls with 10 boundaries but he received valuable support from Richard Collinson who made his maiden 1st XI half century with a patient 56 from 111 balls as they put on 84 for the second wicket partnership. Mitch Lowe with 23 was the other batsmen to pass 20 as the final 6 wickets fell for just 17 runs. For Handsworth, Clifton Folkes with 4-37 and spinner Jaynesh Patel 3-28 were the leading wicket takers. In reply, openers Dawkins and A Hussain made 33 and 22 respectively before Clement Smith joined Hooper to put on 157 for the 4 wicket before Hooper fell for 108 from just 88 balls with 8 x 4s and 7 x 6s. A delayed start caused by the late arrival of Dorridge meant Kenilworth claimed the toss, chose to bat and made 239-7 in 40 overs. Dave Edmunds made his second half century of the weekend with 55 from just 40 balls and Mike Faulkner was unbeaten on 37 from 46 balls when the overs ran out. For Dorridge, skipper Chris Bennett led the attack with 3-28. Mitch Lowe had earlier top scored for the Town with 59 and he received valuable support from Richard Collinson who made 26 as they put on 85 for the 4th wicket partnership. A middle order collapse left Kenilworth 149-8 but a 9th. wicket unbroken stand of 52 between Adie Sellar who made an unbeaten 50 and colt Phil Edmonds 26 not out ensured maximum batting points were achieved for the Town as Reeves took 3-36 and Healey 3-39. However, all other partnerships succeeded as Pranay Turlapati 17 put on 62 for the 2nd wicket with Lewis Phillips who went on to make a good 55 with 10 x 4 before he fell after putting on 40 for the 3rd wicket with skipper Mark Deeley whom colt Rob Gardner then teamed up with. The pair went onto to compose a remarkable unbroken 170 run partnership inside 18 overs. Deeley hit an unbeaten 72 with 8 x 4 and a six in his knock whilst Gardner hit a sublime 87 not out with 11 x 4 and 3 x 6, his highest Senior score. Bablake were undeterred and made a great chase as Vee Udeshi made 65, Payne 52, Watson 33 and McCullum 20 as the Town bowlers toiled. Despite a solid 27 from Turlapati, 29 from Lewis Phillips, a mid order collapse put pressure on the run chase. Choosing to bat first, the Town 1’s slumped to 107 all out with 2.3 overs unused. Opener Dave Edmunds made 30 and Rupesh Sarvankar 24 but nobody else passed 20. For Water Orton, 7 bowlers were used with the wickets being shared around, the most impressive being Michael Bevan 2-17 and J Lee 2-24. In reply, Water Orton crossed the winning line and reached 109-4 to claim the win with more than 14 overs remaning. | Birmingham League outfit, Moseley, cried off the final Warwickshire Sunday League Division 2 fixture of the season at Kenilworth but a replacement friendly fixture against Old Wyvernians was secured which turned out to be the only game of cricket to take place in Kenilworth over the weekend. OW’s secued a 4 wicket win the final over as they managed to chase down the Town’s total of 162-7 from their 40 overs, the highlight of innings was 16 year old colt Patrick Jenkinson who hit his highest Senior score and maiden half century scoring a superb 73 from 69 balls in which he hit 3 x 6 and 6 x 4. He received good support from fellow colt James Alty who made 31 as they put on 73 for the 4th wicket partnership. For OW, Tom Hughes 2-6, Lee Wooloff 2-20 and Dale Scott 2-23 led the attack as 8 bowlers were used. In reply, despite some fine Town fielding led by skipper Mark Deeley who took a stunning one handed diving catch at slip, Old Wyvernians reached 165-6 and victory with 5 balls to spare thank to N Whitmore who was unbeaten on 42 from 37 balls. | The Town 1’s completed a great Bank Holiday to secure their second and much needed back to back wins of the weekend with a 9 wicket victory over Moseley Ashfield. It means they are now in 5th place in a very tight Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division with only two matches remaining which still sees any of 10 out of 12 teams in the mix for the potential 5 relegation places as 4 Warwickshire based sides are in the Birmingham League drop zone into the feeder League. Ashfield were bowled out for 121 inside 40 overs with only Khan 26 and Warner 23 passing 20. Colt, Matt Bolshaw, completed a fine weekend as he took 3-40, whilst wily left arm spinner, Geoff Edmunds, took an outstanding 5-5 off 6.2 overs as Pete Alty chipped in with 1-46 and Mitch Lowe 1-22. James Nason was the outstanding fielder as he took three catches. It took the Town only 22 overs to reach 122-1 as Dave Edmunds and Nason put on 107 for the first wicket. Edmunds bludgeoned his way to 65 with 10 x 4 and 2 x 6 whilst it was left to Nason 35 not out and Richard Collinson 8 not out to see the side home with comfort. | |||||

| Despite incurring a losing draw at Nuneaton, any of 10 of the 12 sides, including the Town 1’s battling in the Premier Division of the Warwickshire Cricket League, face the pain of relegation in one of the closest run ins in recent years as 4 Warwickshire based Clubs are in the fray for relegation from the Birmingham League. With one match remaining – at home against Fillongley next week, the 1’s could in fact end the season as high as 3rd from their current 8th placed spot or slump to 9th dependant on how they perform. Nuneaton posted 239-5 off their 50 overs thanks to opener Allen hitting 74 and his partner, Blower 61 whilst number 3, Rice was unbeaten on 53. Mitch Lowe snapped up 4-84 and Geoff Edmunds 1-57 for the Town as Tom Lawrence took two tidy catches in the field. The Town struggled to 64-6 before Lawrence made 55 and keeper Mike Watts 29 put on 83 runs for the 7th wicket. However, the Town clung on for 4 overs to end the day on 159-9 to frustrate Nuneaton desite the best efforts of Nuneaton bowlers, McNeil 4-50, Rice 3-39 and Taplin 2-23. Nuneaton 18 points, Town 6. Next weekend will be nail biting climax for affected sides in the Premier Division. | |||||

| The Town 2’s did their chance of Division 1 survival a great boost with a 2 wicket win over Offchurch and Lapwaorth who manaaged to post 187-10. Ali Peebles took 3-39 whilst colts, Phil Edmonds took 3-55 and Pat Howard 1-35. Roger Kelsey’s two ball spell saw him rewarded with 1-0. In reply, opener Michael Faulkner anchored the Town innings with 72 with 6 x 4 before he was 8th wicket to fall after a disasterous run out with his partner, Tom Anscombe when on course for victory. Number 9, Anscombe then settled himself before he delightfully caressed the ball to the boundary for the winning runs after scoring an unbeaten 15 out of the needed 18 runs required for victory. The side ended the day on 188-8. Mark Stranks had earlier made 47 whilst Cross took 4-38 and Troth 3-48 for the visitors. With one game left next weekend, against 2nd placed Lyndworth it will decide not only the Division 1 title but which two Clubs are relegated as the Town are 3rd bottom, as such both Clubs have a lot to play for. | |||||

| As expected the Warwickshire Sunday League Cup 1st XI Cup Final went to the form book as Birmingham League side, Attock, defeated underdogs Kenilworth by 60 runs in an entertaining match that was played in great spirits by both sides. The Town 1’s did well to bowl out Attock for 195, thanks to some excellent catching and fielding. 16 year old Warwickshire and England Academy player, Zaman, was the star performer on the day as he made 44 and then went onto take 3-24. Sami chipped in with 55 and Azam 23 in the Attock total. For the Town, pick of the bowlers was Dave Edmunds who took 4-16 from his 5 overs, whilst colt Tom Pope claimed 2-29 and Pete Alty, Pranay Turlapati and Geoff Edmunds snapped up a wicket a piece. Chasing, the Town 1’s struggled against an accurate Attock bowling attack led by Zaman. Mahmood took 3-9, McKee 2-23 whilst there was a wicket each for Ali and Azam as Lee Melville top scored for the Town with 28, followed by 27 from Dave Edmunds, 18 not out from father Geoff and 17 from Turlapati. However, their efforts were not enough as the side was bowled out for 135 in the 38th over. The trophy was presented to Attock who were the deserved winners in the Final and Kenilworth congratulate them for their achievement. | |||||

| In a remarkable match where the umpires controversially decided to call a halt to the match with 8 overs remaining with Kenilworth with the scores level and the Town needing a solitary run for a win which would have catapulated them into 6th place, the Town ended in an frustrating 9th place – so tight the league has been this season, but the winning draw result saved the Town from relegation after results in a bizarre season from the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League saw three Warwickshire based sides joining the WACL for the 2011 season that meant that Fillongley found themselves in the drop zone to Division 1 by only two points from the Town. However, although being denied victory, the Town side totally outplayed Fillongley and matched their score of 170-10 for the loss of only 5 wickets to claim, after much debate, the winning draw as confusion reigned when the weather finally called a halt to proceedings. In the circumstances, Dave Edmunds had the knock of the season as he made 102 from 121 balls opening smashing 14 boundaries whilst Mitch Lowe blasted a 23 ball 36 with 3 x 6 and 2 x 4, as Gardner had taken 3-36 for the visitors and a wicket a piece for Nightingale and Tregonning as the Town reached 170-5 from their 37 out of available 45 overs. Earlier, Fllongley’s total was reached thanks to Dalkin making 39, Barber 33 whilst Blackmore made 22. For the Town, Lowe had taken 4-27 from 11.4 overs, Pete Alty 2-44, Gregg Peebles 2-43 and Geoff Edmunds rounded off another fine season with 2-49. Mike Watts was as efficient as ever behind the stumps taking two catches whilst the outfielding was epitomised by two good catches from Lee Melville and Adie Sellar. | |||||

| A most entertaining friendly match, played in true spirits, saw Heckley pace their innings to perfection after they surpassed the the Town 2’s score with 9 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand in this 40 over encounter. The Town posted 168-7 thanks to openers, Andy Dadswell top scoring with 33, Dave Temple 31 but after a mid innings crisis, Pranay Turlapati knocked 26 including 17 from one over, whilst colt Tom Pope hit a season’s best of 28 not out that included two sublime 6’s. Cowell took 4-27 from his 8 overs, Stride 2-16 whilst Davenport snapped up a wicket. Heckley had Davenport 35 and Lenton 30 to thank for a good start but it was Stride with 46 not out that saw them to 169-6 despite the earlier efforts of pacemen, colts 16 year olds, George Boylin 2-31 and Pope 2-26, whilst old stagers Andy Smith took 1-23 from his 8 and Roger Kelsey 1-25 from 6. | |||||

| The Town ended their Saturday season with an incredible 4 run win after posting only 122 all out in 39.2 overs in their low scoring 40 over friendly and good spirited clash with Leicester Teachers who then amazingly capitulated when they were bowled out for 87 in a rain reduced match that saw them need 92 off 30 overs. Teachers were well on course for a win with 4 overs and 7 wickets in hand and only 11 runs required but a stunning last gasp performance from wily Geoff Edmunds who took 2-5 but the Man of the Match turned out to be Chris Beach who ended the day with 5-14 off 8 overs, his first five for for the Club, claiming the match ball too, including 3 wickets for one run in the last over. However, the turning point in the match was an incredible catch in the deep by James Nason when the ball had 6 written all over it that would have given Teachers victory in the last over. Earlier, Dave Edmunds, for the Town, had top scored with 60 off 87 balls that included 8 boundaries and one six as he was one of only 4 players on view to reach double figures. Opener, Lewis Phillips added 25 and keeper Mike Watts 17 for the Town as Atif snapped up 4-25 off 9.2 overs whilst Miles chipped in with 2-24, Page 1-32 and Gamble 1-36 for the visitors. Teachers opener, Lucyszyn, hit 49 before being outdone by Edmunds Snr and frustratingly saw his side lose in a nail biting finish. Matt Watts picked up 1-28 and two run outs condemned Teachers to an unexpected defeat as Beach finished with a flourish with two wickets in the last two balls of the match that sees him on a hat trick chance first ball of the 2011 season! Fellow spinners Andy Smith 0-13 off 6 and Roger Kelsey 0-21 had tidy spells with Kelsey also brilliantly saving a boundary at the death. | |||||
