Outline Planning Permission GRANTED for the neighbouring Housing Development

‘Up to 125’ homes approved

As expected, Outline Planning Permission for ‘up to 125 dwellings’  was granted for the proposed Housing Development in the two fields that adjoin the Club at Warwick District Council’s Planning Committee at its Meeting this week (Tuesday 24th. April) by  7 votes to 3, despite the Building Inspector originally recommending that the site was suitable for only 100 units.

The final housing numbers and precise details of the Housing Development will be determined at the future Reserved Matters Hearing to be held at some stage during the summer.

Kenilworth Town Council, Leek Wootton & Guys Cliffe Parish Council and the District Ward Councillor made representations objecting, along with the Club at the Planning Meeting all  stating that the numbers sought by the planners  were grossly excessive. Other issues were put to the Hearing by the Town and Parish Councils objecting to the Application.

The Planners, Richborough Estates, confirmed when the matter was considered by the Planning Committee that as part of their application that they are guaranteeing that there will be fencing and cricket ball stop netting installed on the Development land and its future maintenance and upkeep will be the responsibility of the future Management Company for the Development and not that of the Cricket Club.

Currently, a draft Statement of Intent is being considered by the Club’s Housing Development sub-Committee that will be eventually signed by  ourselves, the Planners and the future builder of the homes prior to the commencement of any house building taking place,  once satisfactory clarification of some wording contained within it has been received back from the planners.

It is anticipated following the Reserve Matters stage that building work will commence in the fields around September 2019.

The Planning Committee application has also been very well reported in the Kenilworth Weekly News in a very fair article.
