01/09/2012: Saturday 1st XI v Sutton Coldfield

Kenilworth 1’s survival in the Premier Division of the Warwickshire Cricket League looks precarious after suffering an 84 run defeat against Sutton Coldfield with only two matches remaining and leaving them in second bottom place as the batsmen failed to to take any advantage of a good fielding and bowling performance. Sutton Coldfield posted 166 with Thomason hitting 37, Wright 29 and Hobbis 23 after youngster Phil Edmonds had taken 3-49, Imran Khan 2-27 and Chris Prophet 2-30 with Gregg Peebles and Pete Alty a wicket each as Mark Deeley took catches and keeper Mike Watts a catch and a stumping. In reply, Kenilworth never recovered from being 21-4 and were skittled out for a paltry 82 with Prophet posting 24 and Watts 14 as Childs took 5-26 and Guest 4-26 in a day to forget and left the side to concentrate on their survival in the top flight.
