08/09/2012: Saturday 1st XI v Solihull Blossomfield

Kenilworth 1’s suffered relegation from the top flight of the Warwickshire Cricket League when they could only draw at Solihull Blossomfield, falling short by 22 runs of the winning post in a high scoring game. Solihull recorded a stiff 263-2 as Williamson made 67 and Basher 57 who shared in a 111 run opening partnership. The mantle was then taken up by Khan who made an unbeaten 81 and Weaver 51 not out as their unbeaten 123 run partnership lifted Solihull to their final total. Only Geoff Edmunds with 3-64 off his 15 overs was Kenilworth’s only successful bowler. Replying, they could only and frustratingly make 242-6 as skipper Dave Edmunds posted a fine 80 during which he hit 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. Chris Prophet hit 44 (4 x 4 and a six) and Adam Stuart 43 ( 5 x 4) but their efforts were in vain as Kenilworth were condemned to life in Division 1 for next season.
