10/08/2013: Saturday 1st XI v Highway

Kenilworth Lose

Kenilworth lost out to neighbours Highway in their Warwickshire Cricket League 1st XI Premier Division basement clash after Highway reached the target of 201 with 6 balls remaining and 2 wickets in hand thanks to solid 97 from opener Jamie Marsh who hit 11 boundaries and 2 sixes in his innings. The match was always going to be a tense and close affair as Kenilworth spinners Ed Ruswa took 4-34 and Chris Prophet 3-68 but they were unable to take the remaining wickets as Highway edged home. Tapp hit 22 for Highway. Earlier, Kenilworth had posted 200-9 thanks to starts from Neil Goodman 36, Mike Watts 24, James Nason 21 and Dave Edmunds 19. 15 year old Adam Huxford boosted the Kenilworth score with a fine unbeaten 29 as Marsh took 3-50 and McCarthy 2-32 but the side still struggles to avoid the drop into Division 1 for next season in a most competitive Premier Division.
