11/08/2012: Saturday 1st XI v Bablake Old Boys

Losing Draw

The Town 1st XI’s Adie Sellar’s vain attempt to beat Bablake Old Boys narrowly failed when he could only hit 12 off of the last over when 14 were required. Bablake had posted 275-10 with Tony Bristow top scoring with 75, followed by 30 a piece from Pyott and Cowley. Chris Prophet had taken 3-45, Pete Alty 3-58 whilst Gregg Peebles and Imran Khan snapped up a brace each for the Town and Mark Deeley took two catches from behind the stumps. Chasing the stiff target, the Town were set on the way by cracking innings from Deeley who made 84 with 12 boundaries and Neil Goodman 81 – 11 boundaries and three sixes. A slight wobble followed as De Souza took 4-63 and Cowley 2-66 but Sellar was focused on the task in hand but in a final last over he could not quite the side past the winning line as the Town ended the day on 274-6 with Sellar unbeaten on 21.
