12/08/2012: Sunday 1st XI v Coventry & NW

Kenilworth Win

The Sunday 1’s managed a cracking final over win over Coventry and North Warwickshire in their Warwickshire Sunday League clash as the last wicket pairing of Jaesh Naik 2 not out and Geoff Edmunds 4 not out sneaked a fine win after the Coventry bowler choked and bowled an above waist high full toss, that was going wide, in any case. The hosts had posted 198-6 with Horsley hitting 98 and Chohan 33. Town’s Phil Edmonds was in fine form again with the ball as he took 3-41 as well as a stunning run out, whilst Rupesh Sarvankar took 2-43 and Imran Khan 1-12. Chasing the target, Dave Edmunds blasted a superb 85 hitting 9 boundaries and three sixes in the process whilst James Nason made 23 and colt Rob Gardner 18 as Ikram had taken 3-18 and Horsley 3-18. With 2 overs remaining and 7 runs needed the last Town pair came to the crease to set up an exciting finish and held firm and edged their way to 199-9 and record a fine win.
