1sts move up table despite remaining winless

1st XI v. Aston

Kenilworth’s first team travelled to Aston on the 18th June for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division One match.

Batting first , the game reduced to 43 overs per side, Kenilworth made a strong start with the in form Guy Pearson with 39 and skipper Chris Prophet with 28, but it was Dave Edmunds with a very aggressive innings of 73 (5 x 5 & 5 x 6) off only 55 balls, together with Matt Dargan 36, put on 90 for the third wicket, Tom Booker with a cameo of 23, as Kenilworth made a very decent 267 for 8 from their 43 overs, Tahir taking 3 for 49 for home side Aston.

Aston made a strong start in their reply, and got to 59 without loss, but when leg spinner Brad Fern was introduced, the home slipped to 69 for 4, Fern with figures of 4 for 27 off ten very good overs, wickets also for Phil Edmonds 1 for 28, Matt Dargan 1 for 30 and Pat Howard 1 for 9, but Kenilworth were unable to force the win, Aston finishing on 177 for 7 from their 43 overs, Javed  with 65 and Ahmed with 45 stopping the visitors from collecting their first win of the season, but a winning draw and 17 points were reward for the sides efforts.
