1sts secure a good winning draw

1st XI v. Hampton & Solihull

Kenilworth’s Saturday 1st XI team travelled to Hampton and Solihull for their Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division match. The side were were put into bat and James Nason made 22, Neil Goodman 28 as they made steady progress. Liam Newton took up the mantle as he hit 29 and then  36 was posted from number 8 Guy Pearson in Kenilworth’s total of 175 all out in the 50th over. Malakhel with 3 for 21off 12 overs and Keyte 2 for 27 off 12 overs were the pick of Hampton’s bowlers.
In reply, the home side lost wickets at regular intervals, as spinners Phil Edmonds took 3 for 24 off 12 overs and Jorjeet Singh 2 for 25 off 12 overs, both with quality spells of slow bowling. They were well supported by Joe Boyle 1 for 15, Gregg Peebles 1 for 16 and Neil Goodman 1 for 22. Only James with 29 offered any sort of resistance for Hampton as they struggled to 117 for 8 from their 50 overs but they clung on to deny Kenilworth their first victory of the League season, although the side’s performance was a vast improvement of recent weeks results and Kenilworth were well  satisfied with the winning draw and the majority of the points.
Kenilworth 16pts Hampton and Solihull 6pts.
