1sts undone by Sibi’s 6-3

1st XI v. Pak Shaheen

Kenilworth opened their 2017 Warwickshire Cricket League Division One season with an away fixture at Pak Shaheen.

With the introduction of win/lose cricket and no draws available for the first 5 games of  League season and last 6 matches, in the top tier two Divisions,  it will certainly be a very interesting season for all sides in the 2 divisions.

Home side Pak Shaheen batted first and were in early trouble, with opening Kenilworth bowlers Baker and Howard reducing the hosts to 66 for 4. However, Pak Shaheen were indebted to Jamhed who made a fine 61, Sattar 39 and number 9 Khalid who weighed in with 35 not out, as they eventually made 249 for 9 from their fifty overs.

Pat Howard bowling well, took a fine 3 for 30 from ten quality overs,  whilst Ian Baker weighed  in with 2 for 57, then spinners Jorjeet Singh took 2 for 72, Ed Ruswa 1 for 24 and Chris Prophet 1 for 42.

Kenilworth’s reply was soon in trouble, after being 40 for 2, they quickly slumped to a sorry 91 all out inside thirty three overs, as they had no answer to the spin of Sibi, who ended the day with unbelievable bowling figures of 6 for 3
from eight overs.  Ashif took 2 for 27 as the home side proved to be too good for the Kenilworth batsmen, as only Potten-Ravenshad with 18 not out and Deeley 15 making double figures.

Pak Shaheen the winners by 158 runs.
