27/07/2013: Saturday 1st XI v Bablake Old Boys

Kenilworth Win

Kenilworth 1st XI produced a great all round performance to record their second win of the League season with a 84 run victory over Bablake Old Boys which also saw them move off the bottom of the Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division table as they continue fight to avoid relegation. Kenilworth started well as openers Adie Sellar 37 and James Nason 52 put on a spirited 100 runs for the first wicket. Sellar hit 7 boundaries in his innings whilst Nason hit 11 boundaries. Dave Edmunds later chipped in with 24 and Binoy Master 22 as Swaffield took 4-51 and Cowley 3-23 for Bablake but Kenilworth made 190-9 in their 50 overs. In reply, Bablake could only manage 106 all out as they were skittled out inside 28 overs as the Kenilworth pace duo off Gregg Peebles and Tom Pope did the damage and ripped through the Bablake top order thanks to some good catches. Peebles went onto take a fine 5-33 of his 14 over spell whilst Pope who took the first two wickets to fall to start the Bablake wobble ended with 3-59. The match was wrapped up by spinner Ed Ruswa who took 2-1 in 10 balls with 22 overs left available when he removed the Bablake tail with ease. Earlier, there were two catches each for Kenilworth’s keeper Mike Watts and Chris Prophet with only Manning 33, Steady 13 not out and Cowley 11 the only Bablake players to reach double figures.
