28/07/2012: Saturday 1st XI v King’s Heath

Losing Draw

The Town 1’s were no match for Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division leaders King’s Heath but comfortably settled for a draw. King’s Heath batsmen were on song as they rattled up 305-3 off their 50 overs. G. Sheppard 63 put on 93 for the first wicket with Thomas 44. Number 3 S. Sheppard then hit 50 as he put on 73 for the third wicket with Pemberton who remained at the crease to smash a fine unbeaten 108 as he and Carey 38 not out went to put on 101 runs in their unbroken partnership. The bowlers toiled but young spinner Phil Edmonds picked up 2-94 off his 15 overs and Dave Edmunds 1-42 from 8 overs. In reply, the Town made 196-7 with Edmunds making 39 from 53 balls opening and Gregg Peebles 52 from 85 balls hitting 7 boundaries and a six in his innings. However, it was keeper Mike Watts who was unbeaten 31 and Edmunds 14 not out who remained steadfast for the Town to frustrate King’s Heath as the match ended drawn after Carey, Badger and Thomas had earlier taken a brace of wickets each.
