The wait continues for the 1st XI

1st XI v. Solihull Blossomfield

On Saturday 3rd June, Kenilworth hosted Solihull Blossomfield in Division One of the Warwickshire Cricket League.

Kenilworth were put into bat and a familiar story unfolded, the home side were in early trouble at 12 for 2 in the fourth over. At 44 for 4, Kenilworth’s innings continued to look in trouble but Chris Prophet with 26 and Tom Booker 47 began a rebuild of their sides inning’s and together the pair put on 66 for the fifth wicket. Australian Pete Magafas ,on debut, made 21 but Kenilworth were bowled out for a below par score of 142 inside forty two overs. For Solihull, Thompson with a tidy 4 for 35 , Sutherwaite 2 for 22 and Myres 2 for 29 doing the damage with the ball.
Visitors, Solihull Blossomfield made a strong response with their openers racing to 120 in only twenty overs, as both batsmen completed a half century, Seifas with 50 and his partner Morgan 61 made batting look easy. After the pair were dismissed, it was left to Bashir with 23 not out to hit the winning runs for his side as Solihull Blossomfield finished on 145 for 2 and cruising to an eight wicket win in only twenty five overs.
Wicket takers were Jono Sparks 1 for 31 and Phil Edmonds 1 for 8.
Kenilworth take just the single point for their efforts and remain rooted to the bottom of the Division.
