1st. XI v. Pak Shaheen

Kenilworth hosted Pak Shaheen for their Warwickshire Division One fixture at their Warwick Road ground on Saturday 29th July.

Asked to bat first, the Kenilworth openers Dave Edmunds and Pete Magafas soon had the scoreboard moving, the pair putting on 67 when Edmunds was out for 30. Magafas was to put on another important partnership with keeper Tom Booker, the pair added a superb 86 for the third wicket before skipper Magafas was dismissed for an excellent 84, his innings having six fours and one six, Booker went on to finish unbeaten on 59 with five fours and one six, along with 18 from Christian Hose, home side Kenilworth finished on a very decent 245 for 5 from their fifty overs. Wickets shared between five bowlers for Pak Shaheen.

In their reply, the visitors slipped from 29 for no wicket to 29 for 3, as seamer Steve Rhodes made two early breakthroughs.

Pak Shaheen were in deep trouble at 62 for 5 then 94 for 7 as two wickets each for seamers Ian Baker with 2 for 17 and Matt Casey with 2 for 32, when the eighth fell at 101, Kenilworth could sense that victory was only a matter of time.

A wicket each for spinners Jorjeet Singh with 1 for 17 from seven tidy overs and Darius Potten-Ravenshad chipping In with 1 for 32, also off seven overs. It was to be the return of opening bowler Steve Rhodes who came back on from the Leek Wootton end to take the final two wickets, Zaman top scorer for Pak Shaheen with 40 was the last wicket to fall thanks to a fine catch behind by Tom Booker. Rhodes ending with great figures of 4 for 33 off ten overs.

The visitors all out for 136 in the 36th over, with Kenilworth just beating the rain to win by the big margin of 109 runs and take the full 24 points for a fine team display to keep their impressive unbeaten run going.
