1st XI v. Moseley Ashfield

Kenilworth travelled to Moseley Ashfield for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division One fixture on Saturday 26th August.

Home side Ashfield batted first, opening pair Abdullah with 57 and Thomas who made 31, put on a half century opening stand together.

But after the opening pair had put on a solid start, it was Pemberton, batting at four took his side to 246 for 9 from their fifty overs, Pemberton making a fine 77.

Darius Potten-Ravenshad was the star performer with the ball for the visitors Kenilworth, taking a fine 4 for 42 from ten overs. Other wicket takers were Ian Baker with 2 for 46 off ten overs, Phil Edmonds 1 for 29 off ten overs, Steve Rhodes 1 for 39 off nine overs and 1 for 40 from nine overs for seamer Matt Casey, there was also three catches for Ben Whidborne.

Kenilworth had a disastrous start in their pursuit of 247 to win, soon in huge trouble at 1 for 2 and with the third wicket falling with the score on 35, the visitors in big trouble.

Two more wickets falling left Kenilworth on 87 for 5 but Chris Prophet was standing firm, he was the player to get to grips with the Ashfield bowling, he went on to score an impressive innings of 77,  hitting eight boundary fours in his innings.

Only Adie Sellar with 29 and Phil Edmonds 16 making any other score of note, as Kenilworth were all out for just 145 in the 38th over.

Doing the damage with the ball for Moseley Ashfield were Wadling with 4 for 24 and 3 for 21 for Carey, Ashfield running out comfortable winners by 101 runs, leaving Kenilworth just above the relegation spots. However, with only three more games to go of the League season, the 5 points they earned has given them a 24 point buffer from the drop in what will be a nail biting finale to the season.
