No joy for the Firsts

1st XI v. Dunlop Stars

On Saturday 26th May, Kenilworth hosted  Dunlop Stars for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division One fixture.

Kenilworth were put in to bat first, openers Dave Edmunds and Adie Sellar made a solid start, the pair making 49, before Edmunds was dismissed for 23, his innings including one massive six, after he was out, Kenilworth lost two more quick wickets, slipping to 53 for 3, Sellar also out after making 19.

A cameo from Henry Curran, who made 21 and 16 from Mark Stranks steadied the home side, but the home side were struggling against the Dunlop bowlers, three more wickets left Kenilworth on 100 for 6. Batting at number eight, Steve Rhodes made 13, but the home side were to be all out in the 47th over for a below par score of 135.
For Dunlop Stars, Mahmood took 4 for 22 from ten overs and Hafiz 3 for 22 from nine overs, proving to be too good for the home sides batsmen.

In reply, Dunlop openers looked to make a fast start in their reply, they did lose an early wicket with the score on 22, Afzal caught behind by Dan Horner off Steve Rhodes for just 2. That would be the only success for the home side’s bowlers, as Baber and Azim plundered the home bowling to all parts, Baber being particularly aggressive, he finished unbeaten on 83 and number three Azim unbeaten on 31 Dunlop Stars finishing on 136 for 1 in only twenty seven overs, winning by nine wickets, Steve Rhodes with 1 for 36 from six overs, the only success for the home team.
Kenilworth taking just a single point for their efforts.
