1st. XI achieve their 4th. consecutive win

1st. XI v. Pak Shaheen

The Kenilworth 1’s travelled to Pak Shaheen in their Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 match  and they came away achieving their 4th. consecutive win of the season that saw them move up the table with a good all round and satisfying performance.

The home side batted first, opener Shoab made 40 and Satza 30 from the number six position, but regular wickets from the visitors kept the home side in check from seamers Steve Rhodes with 2 for 56 from 12 overs, Muhammad Nayeem 2 for 37 from 11 excellent overs. Yet, it was left arm spinner Jorjeet Singh with a fine 4 for 26 from 10.3 overs who took the bowling honours for Kenilworth, wickets too for Sunny Ahmed 1 for 21 and Henry Curran 1 for 32 two catches for Steve Rhodes and Jono Sparks , Pak Shaheen were all out for 198 in the 47th over.

An opening stand of 42 between Ade Sellar (13) and Chris Prophet (39) got Kenilworth off to a solid start, Prophet fell with the on 59. Sunny Ahmed (34) and Henry Curran (18) took the score to 94 when Curran was out. Skipper Pete Magafas joined Ahmed, they put on 38 when Ahmed fell, the visitors now 147 for 5, Jono Sparks added (15), but Nayeem (18no) batting with Magafas, saw their side home with 16 overs remaining, ending on 199 for 5, Magafas unbeaten on 51. Kenilworth the winners by 5 wickets, collecting the full 24 points for the second  time this season and the side’s fourth win in a row.

As a result, Kenilworth move up to fourth in the table currently with one result in the Division still awaited between Earlswood and Highway Spartans and whoever wins that match will leap frog the Kenilworth 1st XI in a tight Division this season.
