WINNING DRAW!

Rain affected.

On Saturday 11th August, Kenilworth travelled to play Dunlop Stars for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division One fixture.  It was the end of the win/draw/lose format for the season before it moves onto crucial win/lose format for the reminder of the season. However, the match was rain affected and the match ended early due to the weather as a draw, although Kenilworth came away with the majority of the points and retains second spot in the Division as a result.

Kenilworth were in to bat first, openers Dave Edmunds and Chris Prophet got their side off to solid start, the pair putting on 66 for the first wicket before Prophet was dismissed for 29. Kenilworth lost their second wicket with the score on 93, before Sunny Ahmed and Edmunds put on 28 for the third wicket, Edmunds the third wicket to fall, now 121 for 3. Edmunds made a fine 62, his innings containing (3 x 6 and 8 x 4). Ahmed was dismissed for 29, late innings cameos from Muhammed Nayeem with 26, youngsters Henry Curran 22 not out and Dan Horner 20 not out got their side to a decent 241 for 6 from their fifty overs. Amish taking 3 for 29 for the Stars.

Two early wickets for Kenilworth from Sunny Ahmed reduced the home side to 17 for 2, a wicket too for Muhammad Nayeem, had the home side in deep trouble on 18 for 3. Stars opener Barbar stood firm, but when he was dismissed for 35 by Jorjeet Singh, Dunlop now 79 for 4.

Unfortunately rain was to have the final say with the game poised for a good finish, number five Mansoor with a fine 54 not out and number six Aslim with 25 not out as they had progressed to 139 for 4 from 33 overs when the players were forced off, not to return. Ahmed with 2 for 18, Jorjeet Singh 1 for 21 and Muhammad Nayeem with 1 for 24, the wicket takers for Kenilworth. Kenilworth taking 15 points for a winning draw, Dunlop Stars 5 points.
