Olton secure a comfortable win

There was no joy for Kenilworth as they hosted Olton & West Warwicks for their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division One fixture on Saturday 4th May only to be bowled out for 133 chasing and lost the match by 60 runs.

Olton batted first , but lost an early wicket when Hughes was out to Sunny Ahmed, the visitors 11-1. This became 38 for 2 when fellow opener Neale was run out for 19. Webb and Barnard then began to rebuild their side’s innings, as both players looked to be positive and both passed fifty, when Webb fell to Rahim after making a solid 68 as Olton reached 137 for 3 but this quickly became 138 for 5, with Barnard still there, as Kang and Hussain fell without scoring. Muhammed Naeem then bowled Richter (7) and Trilloe (15) , that left Olton 181 for 7. Barnard ending on 61 not out, as Olton finished on 193 for 7 from their fifty overs. For Kenilworth, Naeem with 2 for 43 from 12 overs, Fahim 2 for 46 from 12 overs, Ahmed 1 for 12 from 8 overs and a wicket for Connor Shingler with 1 for 55 from 12 overs.

Home team openers David Edmunds and Chris Prophet looked to chase down their target, when with the score on 22, Edmunds was bowled by Trilloe for 12, Prophet fell to Trilloe soon after for 20, Kenilworth 33 for 2. Muhammed Fahim and Connor Shingler were now at the crease, the pair took the score to 54 when Fahim was dismissed by Crotty for 13, Sunny Ahmed and Joe Atkinson fell cheaply soon after, as the home side slipped to 71 for 5. Tom Booker then joined Shingler, the pair going on to add 46 together, when Shingler was run out from a direct hit for 28, the home side slumped to 117 for 6. Booker then fell lbw for 41, 127 for 7 and Kenilworth were on the brink of defeat. Henry Curran fell for 1 to Crotty and two more quick wicket’s from Rigoni, Naeem and Darius Potten-Ravenshad both out for 2, ended the home side’s hopes as Kenilworth all out for 133 in 39.4 overs. Olton wicket takers were Rigoni with 4 for 25 from 7.4 overs and Crotty with 3 for 29 from 12 overs. Olton & West Warwicks the winners by 60 runs and take 24 points, Kenilworth taking 4 points.
