1st. XI v. Hampton & Solihull

On Saturday 6th July, Kenilworth travelled to play Hampton and Solihull for their latest Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 1 fixture, looking to make it three wins in a row but fell to a 40 run defeat.

Hampton and Solihull won the toss and elected to bat first, with rain around, Lunn and Allen gave the home side a solid start, before Lunn was well caught by Muhammad Fahim for 17, his wicket bought Khan to the crease to partner Allen, the pair went on to add 45 together for the second wicket before Sunny Ahmed had Allen caught by Connor Shingler for a decent 33, Matt James was the next man in, but Hampton lost their third wicket, Khan caught and bowled by Iylaa Amin for 25, this bought the other James to the wicket, Mark joining Matt, both batsmen looked in good touch, but Connor Shingler had Matt caught and bowled for 38 and soon after the home side were five down, Mark James, bowled by Muhammad Fahim for 27, Shingler then had Chakrapani caught by Amin for 1, Fahim took the seventh home wicket, Salebhai lbw for 10, as Hampton and Solihull closed their innings on 213 for 7 from their fifty overs. For Kenilworth, Connor Shingler took 2 for 41 off ten overs, Muhammad Fahim with 2 for 20 off five, Steve Rhodes with 1 for 49 off ten overs, Sunny Ahmed with 1 for 30 off ten tidy overs and a wicket for Ilyas Amin with 1 for 44 off ten overs, as the players headed off for tea.

Skipper Pete Magafas and Connor Shingler opened up their sides innings in reply, but unfortunately lost Magafas in the second over, lbw to Khan for 1, Kenilworth 6 for 1, Sunny Ahmed joined Shingler, both players looked in good touch, going on to add 59 together for the second wicket, Shingler bowled by Khan for 29, the visitors 65 for 2 in the 16th over and well placed. But two quick wickets for the home side, first Ahmed falling lbw to Keyte for 35, and Dave Edmunds also lbw, this time to Palmer for 13, Kenilworth 87 for 4in the 26th over, as Hampton began to get on top. When Muhammad Fahim fell off the bowling of Veiyte for 9 and Chris Prophet was bowled by Lunn for 10, Kenilworth were in trouble on 119 for 6 in 35th over. A stand of thirty between Joe Atkinson and Adie Sellar got the visitors back in the game, but when Sellar was run out for 12, Kenilworth were 144 for 7, this became 149 for 8 when Atkinson was stumped off Lunn for 17. Steve Rhodes became the ninth wicket, bowled by Palmer for 7, now the visitors were 160 for 9 in the 42nd over, a few late blows from Amin, but last man Matt Casey was caught and bowled by Palmer for 1, Kenilworth were all out for 173 in the 46th over, Amin left 17 not out, Hampton and Solihull the winners by 40 runs. Kenilworth take 5 points.
