All 3 Kenilworth sides were in League action on Saturday but only the 2nds. gained a win.

 

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Olton & WW

Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L – 50 overs a side

LOSE

Olton 229-6 (20 points) (50 overs) beat Kenilworth 122-10 (2 points) (35.1 overs) by 107 runs.

 

High flying Olton proved too strong for the Kenilworth side as they easily won their win lose match by 107 runs after posting a stiff 229-6 in their innings. After an early loss of a wicket, the Olton batsmen steadily piled on the runs with Kulkarni 44 not out and Richter 40 sharing in a 87 run 6th. wicket partnership after Webb had earlier made 37, the highlight of their innings. Five Kenilworth bowlers each took a wicket a piece whilst keeper, Tom Booker, took two catches.  In reply, only 3 Kenilworth batsmen managed to reach double figures with Sunil Kumar top scoring and last man out having made a steady 43 (3 x 4). Joe Atkinson had earlier added 18 and Henry Curran 13 but the side lost their last 4 wickets for 7 runs as the side toiled against a tidy Olton attack and the side were bowled out in the 36th. over for only 122. Burke took 3-34. Hawkins 2-8 and Kendall 2-14 for the victorious visitors.

 

 

2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Oakfield and Rowlands

Warwickshire Cricket League – Division 7 East – W/L – 50 overs a side

WIN

Oakfield and Rowlands 153-8 (2 points) (50 overs) lost to Kenilworth 154-3 (20 points) (36 overs) by 7 wickets.

 

Youngster, Shyaan Imam, was Kenilworth’s match winner along with Adie Sellar as the pair shared in an unbroken 125 run  4th. wicket partnership as the side easily chased down Oakfield’s 153-8. Imam made an unbeaten 70 (6 x 4) whilst Sellar chipped in with 43 not out (5 x 4) to reach 154-3 with 14 overs of the match remaining after Chris Prophet had earlier added 16. Whitwell took 2-25 and Claasen 1-49 for the hosts. During the Earlswood innings, Sam Leach had snapped up 3-16 for Kenilworth with 5 other Town bowlers claiming a wicket a piece as Naragata made an unbeaten 35 and Dowling 31 for the hosts.

 

3rd XI v. Earlswood

Cotswold Hills Cricket League – Division 6 – W/L – 40 overs a side

LOSE

Earlswood 223-5 (21 points) (40 overs) beat Kenilworth 201-8 (7 points) (40 overs) by 22 runs.

 

In a high scoring affair, Kenilworth fell short by 22 runs after Earlswood had posted 223-5 as Rock hit an impressive 92 (12 x 4, 1 x 6) and 16 year old, Laal, a fine 79 (8 x 4, 2 x 6) despite the efforts of Town bowlers, Will Thomson who took 2-25, James Sparks 2-52 whilst Christian Mortlock took 1-33. In reply, Kenilworth’s opener, Mark Stranks, made 52 hitting 8 boundaries, Steve Kelley 21, Matt Dadswell 20 and the efforts of number 9 Tom Skinner proved in vain despite making a solid unbeaten 34 (5 x 4) as overs ran out and the side had to end the day on 201-8. Earlswood’s Rock followed up his fine batting display with the ball and he took 4-28 to complete an all round performance to give his side victory.
