Losing Draw

Kenilworth hung on for a draw after slumping to 10-3 and then 50-5 in a rain affected match trying to chase down Bablake Old Boys score of 154-10 in their Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division match. The side ended the day on 119-8 with Hitesh Moorthy resolute in mid order to post an unbeaten 29 and Tom Pope 12 not out, as Cowley took 3-22 for the visitors, Swaffield 2-25 Khan 2-28 whilst Pyott snapped up a wicket before the overs ran out. Earlier, Ed Ruswa was in fine form with the ball for Kenilworth, snapping up a delightful 6-22 with his off spin variations whilst Pope, opening the attack took 3-57. Chris Prophet was the other wicket taker as keeper Mike Watts took a sharp catch and a stumping behind the sticks. Bablake had Pyott to thank for their score as he made 54 and he shared in a second wicket 72 run partnership with Hussain 22. Swaffield made 26 before Ruswa ran riot claiming 5 mid order wickets on the bounce. Afetr, Dave Edmunds was out for 23, Adie Sellar 17 and Gregg Peebles holing out for 16 at long on, Kenilworth batted through the last remaining overs that to Moorty to settle for the draw.
