Losing Draw

The Town 1’s hung on for a draw after Bablake had posted 240-4 declaring on 43 overs. Tony Bristow posted 125 in a hard hitting innings that saw him make 16 x 4 and 2 x 6 whilst Steve Swaffield added 73 (7 x 4 and 2 x 6) as the duo put on 141 for the 3rd wicket. Town’s Gregg Peebles picked up 2-59 whilst there was a wicket a piece for youngsters Tom Pope and Phil Edmonds. In reply, the Town started well as skipper, Dave Edmunds posted 84 hitting 13 boundaries and two sixes in his 115 ball innings , Lee Melville 49 (3 x 4, 2 x 6) and Peebles 23 but after they fell, the side managed to survive 57 overs in total to reach 174-9 at the close of play.
