Double defeat to Divisional winners

Opposition ease to wins

The 2 Kenilworth sides were in League action on the penultimate Saturday of the League season and both were defeated by their respective Divisional winners.

 

1st XI

Kenilworth v. Aston Manor

Warwickshire Cricket League Division 1 – W/L/D – 50 overs a side

LOSE

Kenilworth 123-10 (2 points) (29.2 overs) lost to Aston Manor 128-5 (24 points) (29.3 overs) by 5 wickets.

 

Kenilworth were no match for Divisional winners, Aston Manor, in their penultimate League match of the season as they were bowled out for 123 inside 30 overs losing wickets all too regularly. Only opener Pat Howard who made 32 (3 x 4) and brother, Jack, who hit 29 (5 x 4) in the tail made any scores of note as Arfan Khan took 4-45. There was a brace of wickets for Talat Rashid and Faisal Shahid with Babar Khan taking the other wicket to fall along with a run out. Aston Manor then eased to 128-5 inside 30 overs after recovering from 52-4 with Waseem Mazhar making 30 and Thomas Clarke 25 with Shakeel Janjua bringing the side’s victory with his quickfire 13 ball 32 not out hitting 4 sixes and a boundary. Kenilworth’s wicket takers were Darius Potten-Ravenshad with 2-14, Connor Shingler 2-34 and Adie Sellar the other to fall.

 

 

2nd XI

Kenilworth v. Warwick

Warwickshire Cricket League – Division 7 East – W/L/D – 50 overs a side

LOSE

Kenilworth 176-7 (4 points) (50 overs) lost to Warwick 179-4 (20 points) (45.3 overs) by 6 wickets.

 

The 2nd. XI lost their local derby match with Divisional winners, Warwick, by 6 wickets who chased down the Town’s score of 176-7 with 4 overs in hand. Charlie Stranks posted an unbeaten 51 in mid order after Dave Edmunds opening had made 31 for Kenilworth. Dave Smithson chipped in with 18 and Sam Leach 17 not out in the side’s total with Singh taking 4-18 from his 12 overs and Jackson 3-32 from his, for Warwick. Passey then hit 62 and Hope 56 before Sharma 24 not out saw Warwick to the target with ease and end on 179-4 despite Tom Skinner taking 2-25 with a wicket each for fellow spinners, Leach and Stranks.
