Firsts continue to struggle as a team

1st XI v. Olton & WW

Kenilworth first team played host to high flying  and table topping Olton & West Warwick in their Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division match on Saturday June 4th.

Kenilworth batted first and after a steady start at 65 for 1, the home side slipped to 90 for 5 then 124 for 7 but was once again steadied by in form opening bat and skipper Dave Edmunds as he showed his  pedigree  with a solid 56, whilst the reliable Jorjeet Singh made 28. Gregg Peebles made 20 and  number nine Mike Watts hit 26 not out as they  got the home side to 167 all out in the 49th over. Brookes with 4 for 28 off ten tidy overs and Trilloe with 2 for 39 off  his 10 overs doing the damage for Olton.

Olton reply began at a fast pace and were 78 for 1 after 10 overs. Opener Weaver with 56 (9×4) , Hawkins 32 not out and Webb with 31 got the visitors home by 7 wickets inside 23 overs as they easily reached 168-3. Kenilworth wicket takers were  Gregg Peebles with 1 for 35, Jorjeet Singh 1 for 51 and Ed Ruswa 1 for 61 as the search for the first win of the season goes on for the side as they remain firmly rooted at the foot of the table. Olton 24pts Kenilworth 3pts.
