Firsts win their opening League match

Kenilworth 1st. XI v. Berkswell 2nd. XI

 

Kenilworth 164-8  beat Berkswell 84-10 by 80 runs. Win/Lose.

 

The 1st. XI kicked off their 45 overs a side mini-League season in the WCCL South East Group A with an 80 run win at their Warwick Road Ground.

Kenilworth batted first and had initially limped to 56-6 after 28 overs before Jono Sparks and Matt Casey shared in a solid 16 overs and 96 run partnership for the 7th. wicket to boost the side’s score. Casey made 38 (4 x 4) before being run out whilst Sparks made his first half century of the year hitting a fine 58 with 9 boundaries.  Joe Atkinson had earlier chipped in with 17.  Aspinall and Cooke both claimed 2-21 for Berkswell, Blundell 2-23 whilst Nigel took 2-11 from his 9 overs.

In reply,  Berkswell found conditions equally difficult with only Brammer 15, Blundell 13 and Coleman 12 managing to reach double figures as Kenilworth’s bowlers took control. Atkinson took a fine 3-13, Charlie Stranks 2-9 and Casey 2-13 whilst there was a wicket apiece for Darius Potten-Ravenshad and Stuart Cope, as Berkswell were bowled out for 84, Kenilworth ending up 80 run victors with 16 overs in hand.
