Last pair hang on to claim losing draw

1st XI v. Solihull Municipal

On Saturday 22nd August, Kenilworth’s first team hosted Solihull Municipal in their Warwickshire Cricket League Premier Division league match at their Warwick Road ground.

Solihull batted first, lost a wicket second ball and then slipped to 29 for 2 before a partnership of 160 for the third wicket between Roslyn with a superb 114 not out (13 x 4) and Boyce with 79 as they the side to a very competitive 288 for 6 in their 50 overs. Wickets were taken by Joe Boyle 1 for 66, Jake Sunderland 2 for 52, Neil Goodman 2 for 34 and Jorjeet Singh with a tidy 1 for 39 from his ten overs when the ball was flying about.

Kenilworth’s reply was soon in a bit of trouble at 59 for 2, but Chris Prophet with 31, Jorjeet Singh 27, Neil Goodman 24 built up a solid run chase. However, it was left to the last pair to save the match for Kenilworth as Ed Ruswa 2 not out and Joe Boyle 23 not out batted out for the losing draw, finishing on 201 for 9 from their 50 overs. Roslyn with 3 for 50 and Stanley with 2 for 27 were the pick of the Solihull Municipal bowling.
