1st. XI v. Solihull Blossomfield

Lost

Kenilworth 126-10 (1 point) (43 overs) lost to Solihull Blossomfield 128-2 (20 points) (21.3 overs)

Despite a fine 66 from Kenilworth’s opener Joe Atkinson, who hit 10 boundaries in his knock, the side slumped to 126 all out in 43 overs against an accurate Blossomfield bowling attack that pinned the side down who found runs hard to come by. Only skipper, Connor Shingler, with 20 and Dave Edmunds 17 were the only other 2 Kenilworth batsmen to reach double figures, as Kenny took 3-20 and Bentley 3-28 for the hosts. Bashir and Kinman picked up a wicket each whilst the Kenilworth cause was not helped with two run outs. Blossomfield then cantered with ease to 128-2 to win the match with 23 overs to spare after opener Baker made a solid 71 and Thompson unbeaten on 47. The Kenilworth wicket takers were Stuart Cope and Shingler, as the hosts proved far too strong on the day.

2nd. XI v. Bablake

Winning Draw

Kenilworth 235-4 (17 points) (45 overs) drew with Bablake (9 points) (45 overs)

The 2nd. XI hung on to claim a deserved winning draw against visitors, Bablake, at home. The side posted a good 235-4 with opener, Mark Stranks hitting 48 (6 x 4), as he and youngster, Shyaan Imam, who made 18, shared in a 79 run first wicket partnership. Dave Smithson then added an excellent 65 not out (8 x 4) as he shared in another 79 run partnership for the 4th. wicket with Charlie Stranks who made 31 (3 x 4) to reach their total. Mohammed took 2-17 for the visitors with Chellin and Bailing taking a wicket apiece. Bablake were not fazed in their reply as they chipped away at the Kenilworth score. Mohammed made a fine unbeaten 62, Patel 28 and Auguste 25, with Downine and Aftab both adding 17 each. However, their run chase was in vain as the Kenilworth bowlers held their nerves and Bablake ended the day on 209-7 some 27 runs short of the target when overs ran out. Spinners Tom Skinner took 3-36 and Chris Beech 2-44 for Kenilworth with Sam Leach claiming 1-13 and Dave Gamble 1-25. Debutant Josh Charlwood claimed two good outfield catches in a match that saw both sides concede a combined 94 extras between themselves.
