Muhib finds that Midas touch to deny Kenilworth

1st. Xl v. Nuneaton

Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 1

LOST

Nuneaton 187-10 (42.2 overs) beat Kenilworth 184-10 (46.1 overs) by 3 runs.

Kenilworth cruelly suffered a 3 run defeat at the hands of visitors Nuneaton in an entertaining game that went down to the last over of the match.

Looking well placed and on course for their first win of the season chasing down Nuneaton’s score of 187, the side lost their last 5 wickets for 19 runs as a revitalised bowling attack ripped through the Kenilworth tail in the last 8 overs of the match to be bowled out for 184.

Skipper Connor Shingler had top scored with 60, Tom Booker 59 with Stuart Cope hitting 25 and Chris Prophet 17 but their efforts were in vain as Nuneaton’s Muhib proved to be the match winner taking 4-25 late on with Bixas earlier taking 3-40, Sharp 2-36 and O’Neill 1-41.

Nuneaton had earlier posted 187 with Kenilworth’s Joe Atkinson taking 4-16 from 9.2 overs, Shingler 2-37 from his 11 and Cope 2-43 from his allocation. Darius Potten-Ravanshad and Jack Howard took a wicket a piece, whilst Dave Edmunds clung onto two outfield catches. Gilles top scored for Nuneaton with 83 and Rehman 46, the latter batting at 9 and crucially adding 53 in their 9th. wicket partnership.

An exciting game to watch which went down to the wire despite the result for Kenilworth.
