Saturday 1st XI v Nuneaton – 19/05/12

Kenilworth Lose

It was unlucky 7’s for the Town 1’s as they slumped to an 85 run defeat as they struggled with the damp conditions after hosts Nuneaton had posted 176 with Rice the mainstay with an unbeaten 65 as he and number 8 McNeill 31 put on 61 for the 7th wicket and then snapped up 7 Town wickets between them. Evergreen Pete Alty was in fine form for the Town as he took a very tidy 4-40 off 15 overs whilst young spinner Phil Edmonds claimed 3-47 off 15 and skipper Dave Edmunds 2-42. Only Town opener James Nason showed any resistance after the side found themselves at 14-4 and was 7th out after he posted 29. Only Guy Pearson 16 and Lee Melville 10 were the other Town batsmen to reach double figures as they were skittled out for a paltry 91. McNeill took 4-35, Rice 3-18 and Taplin 3-18 as Nuneaton won with ease as the Town lost their last 3 wickets for 2 runs.
