1st XI.
Kenilworth v. Aston Manor
WCCL Division 1 – Win/Lose format. 50 overs a side.
LOSE
Aston Manor 255-5 (20 points) beat Kenilworth 161-9 (3 points) (50 overs) by 94 runs.
Table topping Aston Manor proved far too strong for the Kenilworth side as they posted 255-5 from their 50 overs with opener, Ali, making a fine 91 (12 x 4), Shahid 62 not out, whilst Junhva chipped in with 28, Mufti 25 and Mazhar 22 as Kenilworth’s bowlers toiled away. Connor Shingler took 2-50 with Joe Atkinson and Darius Potten-Ravenshad, a wicket each with a run out accounting for the other wicket to fall. Tom Booker took a catch and a stumping behind the sticks.
Replying, Kenilworth started well and it was not until the 12th. over that the first wicket fell when Booker departed for 20, The side then struggled against the accurate Aston attack and found runs hard to come by, with wickets falling regularly. Stuart Cope with 39 (4 x 4, 1 x 6) was the side’s top scorer but the target was far out of reach and they had to settle and end the day on 161-9 from their 50 overs. Aston used 9 bowlers with Khan taking 3-26 and Shahzad 2-12.
2nd XI
Kenilworth v. Warwick
WCCL Division 7 East – Win/Lose format. 50 overs a side.
LOSE
Warwick 205-7 (20 points) (50 overs) beat Kenilworth 90-10 (3 points) (33.3 overs) by 115 runs.
Warwick inflicted Kenilworth a heavy 115 run defeat as the side posted 205-7 with A. Sharma hitting an unbeaten 71 (6 x 4, 3 x 6) and P. Sharma 65 (6 x 4, 1 x 6) in their total despite the best efforts of Jono Sparks who took 3-58 and Dave Gamble 2-14 from 10 tidy overs. Kapil Dubey and Sam Leach each took the other wickets to fall as Tom Skinner claimed 2 outfield catches.
Only Chris Prophet with 40 and Dave Smithson 10 managed to reach double figures for Kenilworth as the side were skittled out for 90 losing their last 8 wickets for 30 runs as the side fell away once Prophet was out, as Singh ripped through the line up taking 4-5 off 6.3 overs, T. Sharma 2-7 from his 6 overs to give Warwick a comprehensive win.
3rd. XI
Kenilworth v. Bearley
CHL Division 6 – Win/Lose format. 40 overs a side.
WIN
Kenilworth 202-9 (22 points) (40 overs) beat Bearley 175-10 (8 points) (36 overs) by 27 runs.
Kenilworth 3rd.’s moved to the top of their division with a fine 27 run win at Bearley as they posted 202-9 thanks to skipper, Steve Kelley, hitting a solid 74 (11 x 4), Dhruv Vyas 47 (5 x 4, 2 x 6) and Will Thompson 25 as Ullah took 3-32, Mirza 2-28 and Yewer 2-25 for the hosts. Kelley and Thompson shared in a 84 run 5th. wicket partnership.
Bearley started well with openers L. Ross making 27 and Mirza 26. D. Ross added 28 and Wood 26 but the side were bowled out for 175 as Kenilworth’s Ben Clarke claimed his maiden 5 wicket haul for the Club as he took 5-29, Matt Dadswell took 2-44 and James Adamson 1-7 with two sharp run outs accounting for the other wickets to fall.
