1st. XI v. Nether Whitacre

 

MATCH ABANDONED

On Saturday 28th July, Kenilworth travelled to Nether Whitacre for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division One fixture.

Nether Whitacre batted first and the home side’s opening pair got their side off to a solid start putting on 67 for the first wicket that was a taken by Sunny Ahmed taking the first wicket and  he struck again reducing the home side to 74 for 2, by dismissing opener Titmus  after he made a decent 50. A partnership of 82 between Greaves and Knight got their side to 178, before Ahmed dismissed both players, Greaves for 36 and Knight 48, the home sides innings ended by the weather on 221 for 5 from 41.5 overs, as the players were forced off, the rain too heavy to continue. Sunny Ahmed taking a superb 5 for 34 from twelve overs.

After tea and the rain stopping, a revised target for Kenilworth was  set -124 off 24 overs for winning draw and 175 for outright win off 24 overs. Openers Dave Edmunds and Chris Prophet looked to make a fast start to beat the weather, but the rain returned to end the game after only 7.5 overs, Kenilworth ending on 66 for 2, Dave Edmunds 22, Sunny Ahmed 6 the men out, Chris Prophet 23 not out and skipper Pete Magafas not out 15 when rain came and set in.

Kenilworth take 6 points from the abandoned game, when the weather had the final word.
