Sunday 1st XI v Walmley – 15/07/2012

Kenilworth Win

The Town’s Sunday 1’s played the only cricket match over the weekend in Kenilworth at their Warwick Road ground against Birmingham League outfit, Walmley and enjoyed at 10 run win in a low scoring match in their Division 1 Warwickshire Sunday League clash. Batting first, the Town 1’s posted 126-9 off their 40 overs thanks to Rupesh Sarvankar who made 28, 20 apiece from Chris Prophet and Neil Goodman, whilst James Nason made 14 and Guy Pearson an unbeaten 11 as Mulholland took 3-17 and Waugh 2-14 for the visitors. Replying, Walmley were bowled out for 116 with 11 balls left of the match as the 6 Town bowlers used all took wickets. Goodman took 2-13, Nason 2-19 for the Town after Gregg Peebles had taken 1-8 off 6 fine overs opening the bowling. Geoff Edmunds, Matt Bolshaw and Sarvankar took a wicket each whilst run outs accounted for the other wickets to fall. Walmley’s Austin tried to hold their innings together as he hit a fine 70 and Allen made 11 but they were only two batsmen to reach double figures in a match that the Town came out tops and deserved to win.
