Whirlwind win at Wootton

Midweek XI v. Leek Wootton

Kenilworth made the long trip to play Leek Wootton on a barmy early summer’s evening for a mid week twenty overs a side bash.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, host Leek Wootton never got to grips with Kenilworth’s bowling and wickets tumbled almost every over  as they were shot out for a paltry 33 in only 13 overs.

Wickets were shared around with 2 for Tom Skinner, 2 for Nathan Chant, a wicket for Jack Howard and the guile of keeper/batsman and now bowler Dan Horner, to show his all round prowess.

So, Kenilworth set off in pursuit of the 34 needed by losing a wicket first ball of their innings, whoops and then another wicket goes, suddenly Kenilworth’s other batsmen are frantically trying to pad up but  a flurry of fours from the bat of Chris Prophet and Kenilworth are home in only five overs, finishing on 34 for 3 and the victors by seven wickets.
