Winning Draw

The Kenilworth 2nd XI rounded off their season with a solid winning draw to finish the 2012 season in 3rd place of the 2nd XI Division 2 of the Warwickshire Cricket League. In a high scoring match, the side notched up 255-8 with Rupesh Sarvankar leading the way with yet another superb batting display to post a fine 90, hitting 10 boundaries and 2 sixes as he put on 108 for the first wicket with Stuart Clennell who made 29. Youngsters, James Alty and George Boylin added 32 and 31 respectfully as Gosling took 5-43, Brainbridge 2-49 and Davies 1-86 for Ansley. In reply, Ansley went on to post 235-8 as Davies made 96 and Smith 65. However, it was Kenilworth’s Matt Watts who spoilt their chance of victory as he took a season’s best of 6-40 off 10 fine overs with his leg spin variation. He was backed up by 1-32 from Geoff Edmunds’ tidy 14 overs spell and Sarvankar chipped in with 1-34 from his spell as the sides settled for a draw and the 2’s ended their season with yet another solid and promising performance.
