19/08/2012: Sunday 2nd XI v Sutton Coldfield

Kenilworth Lose

The Sunday 2’s fell 20 runs short in an entertaining game against Sutton Coldfield who made 199-7 with Mist hitting 52, Betts 53 and Mott 42 not out. Kenilworth’s Roger Kelsey took 3-39 whilst there was a wicket a piece for Andy Smith, Mark Deeley and Todd Elliott. In reply, the Kenilworth chase started positively with Deeley hitting 46 but became bogged down against a tidy Sutton attack. It was left Danny Lane with 30 and Roger Kelsey to put on 72 for the 6th wicket that gave the side a chance. Kelsey played superbly with the bat promoted to the number 7 berth to make a career best score of 36 as he hit 2 boundaries and two huge sixes – much to the delight of the spectators. However, when he fell, Kenilworth’s chance of a win disappeared and the side settled on 179-7.
