2nd XI v Atherstone

(Ans)combe on!

Atherstone batted first in a competitive match at Warwick Road. A mixture of youth and experience in the bowling lineup limited the Atherstone batsmen to 148 with only Mohammed Munir scoring above 20 runs. Veteran Ali Peebles took 4 for 37 from 15 and teenager Freddie Davies took 3 for 18 from 6, supported by Geoff Edmunds and Theo McBrien with a wicket each. In reply, the 2’s hit the target in the penultimate over, with Peter Huxford (25), Steve Rhodes (35) and Theo McBrien (21) scoring the lion’s share of the runs. This set the stage for club captain Tom Anscombe (12 not out) to hit the winning runs, much to the delight of the assembled crowd. Click more for photos.
