2nd XI v Massey Ferguson

Massey’s last pair hang on to deny the 2’s victory

Massey Ferguson’s last pair clung on for 15 overs to frustrate Kenilworth in a match that ended in a draw. Kenilworth had earlier posted 228-6 as Mark Stranks and Vitesh Bora each hit 53 a piece. Rob Gardner chipped in with 39 and Anthony Kerry 22 in the side’s total. In the run chase, Massey slumped to 101-9 despite Sharma making 42 after Charlie Stranks had taken 3-38 along with two outfield catches, whilst evergreen Ali Peebles took 3-28, Geoff Edmunds 2-17 and Ian Baker 1-36. However, they were unable to take the crucial last Massey wicket as Rose held firm to ensure the unlikely draw as he ended the day unbeaten on 10 and partner Ashcroft 11 not out as they ended the day on 134-9.
