2nd XI v. Meriden Spartans 1st XI

On Saturday 9th May, Kenilworth Saturday 2nd team played host to Meriden Spartans 1st XI in their Warwickshire Cricket League Division 8 East fixture.

Meriden batted first , opener  Moynihan 51 got them off to a solid start and he was well supported by Garry with 63, as the home bowlers were finding it hard to make break throughs against  determined  batting from the visitors. Off their 45 overs, Meriden made a decent 228 for 6, the wicket takers for Kenilworth were Skipper Geoff Edmunds with a tidy 3 for 41 of 10 overs, young seamer Jono Sparks with 2 for 44 off 9 overs and Jaesh Naik 1 for 45 off 10.

Kenilworth opener Mark Stranks showed his class with a fine 76 (8×4) was  the mainstay of Kenilworth’s reply. All-rounder  Sparks added to his earlier wickets with 21 and James Adamson with 19 were the highlights of Kenilworth’s reply. The side, finishing 174-9 off their 45 overs, hanging on for the losing draw. The pick of the Spartans attack was Buidett with 3 for 24 and Prawav with 2 for 34.
