Kenilworth’s second team hosted the Dunlop Stars for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture on Saturday 13th May.
Dunlop were asked to bat first and fell to 17 for 1 but Irfan with an aggressive 55 and Khan got their innings back on track, with Khan finishing on 65 not out. The Stars finished on a very decent 272 for 9 from their fifty overs, their total boosted by 53 extras, including 39 wides. Wickets were shared around for Kenilworth, as skipper Geoff Edmunds took 3 for 45 off twelve overs, Ryan Bull 3 for 56 off twelve overs, Sam Leach 1 for 31, Jono Sparks 1 for 35 off ten overs and Freddie Davies 1 for 95 off twelve overs.
Kenilworth’s reply didn’t start well and were in trouble at 12 for 2 and then 37 for 3 but a stand of 66 between Nathan Chant (36) and Michael Watts for the fourth wicket, when Chant was dismissed with the score on 103. Watts was joined by Freddie Davies who made 43 not out in an unbroken stand with Watts of 97, as keeper Watts continued his fine start to his season, hitting another impressive half century, finishing on 81 not out, his innings containing twelve boundary fours.
Kenilworth finished on a creditable 200 for 4 from their fifty overs. Dunlop even used all eleven of their players as bowlers during the innings, but only two of the eleven bowlers used managed to take a wicket, Z. Ali with 2 for 27 and H. Ali with 2 for 33.
Kenilworth take ten points for a losing draw. They have two draws, one win and one loss from their opening four fixtures.
