A fine team performance secures the 2nds victory

2nd XI v. Weoley Hill

On Saturday 3rd June, Kenilworth’s 2nd XI travelled to Birmingham side Weoley Hill for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

Kenilworth were put into bat with openers Mark Stranks and Dan Horner making a strong solid start to their side’s innings. The pair put on 55 for the first wicket, before Horner fell for 29.  Stranks went on to make a fine 45, whilst Freddie Davies made an aggressive 29 including three sixes, There were useful knocks of 14 from Michael Watts and 10 from Ant Kerry that helped Kenilworth reach 145 all out in the 49th over. Stirling with 3 for 18 and Clay 3 for 27 the star performers for Weoley Hill.
 
The home side never looked comfortable against visitor’s bowling and lost wickets at regular intervals. Young seam bowler Freddie Davies ripped through the home batting, taking a fine 4 for 23 and he was backed up by the guile of skipper Geoff Edmunds with a frugal 4 for 13 off ten overs and his spin partner Chris Beach with 2 for 14 off nine unplayable overs. Only Grathorne with 28 not out and Simpson 19 making a double figure score for the home side, Weoley Hill all out for 83 inside only 31 overs.
 
A fine team performance saw Kenilworth collect 24 points, winning by 62 runs. Well played lads.
