Old timers Edmunds and Stranks on form in easy win

2nd XI v. Studley

On Saturday 24th June,  Kenilworth’s seconds travelled to Studley for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

Home side Studley were put into bat but struggled against the Kenilworth bowling as only opener Santh made a score of note, he went on to make 41. Wickets were shared around, but it was the captain Geoff Edmunds who stole the show, returning with yet another five wicket haul. Edmunds recorded fine figures of 5 for 28 from twelve overs bowled. There were wickets too for fellow slow bowlers Chris Beach with 2 for 17 off eight tidy overs, leg break bowler Mo Shahid 2 for 23 off six overs and 1 for 11 off five overs for Charlie Stranks, as Studley were all out for an under par 132.

Mark Stranks and Dan Horner got the visitors off to a fine start in their reply, recording their third fifty plus opening partnership in a row, Horner making 23 out of the 65 run opening stand. Nathan Chant added 13, but it was Mark Stranks with a superb innings of 72 that saw his side home, his innings containing 9 x 4 and 1 x 6, Kenilworth finishing on 133 for 3, to win by seven wickets in only 28 overs. Three separate wicket takers for Studley, but Kenilworth recorded a comfortable victory and take 20 points home.
