Rain ruins the game and the 2’s chances

2nd XI v. Bridge Trust Old Boys 1’s

On Saturday 22nd July, Kenilworth’s second team hosted Bridge Trust Old Boy’s 1sts for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

Put into bat the visitors made a solid start under grey skies but seamer Ian Baker made the first breakthrough for the home side with the score on 46 and from 81 for 1 when Bridge Trust lost their second wicket. They were in a spot of bother at 113 for 4, as Kenilworth’s trio of spin bowlers were again doing a fine job. With rain falling quite heavily, the players were forced off the pitch with the visitors on 150 for 5 after 39 of their 50 overs.

The rain was too prove too heavy and persistent, so both teams had to settle for an abandoned draw.

Wicket takers for Kenilworth were Charlie Stranks with 2 for 26, Geoff Edmunds 1 for 26, Ian Baker 1 for 29 off 9 overs and Chris Beach 1 for 37 off twelve tidy overs, Slightly making 57 and Shah ending on 46 not out for Bridge Trust. Kenilworth take 6 points on a day when the weather was too have the final say.
