Wily Edmunds’ 7 wicket haul sets up an easy win

2nd. XI v. Aston Manor III

Kenilworth’s 2nd XI travelled to play Aston Manor Thirds for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture on Saturday 12th August.

The home side, Aston Manor, were to bat first, after a steady start at 26 for no wicket, they were in deep trouble at 45 for 4, then two further wickets fell leaving Aston Manor 67 for 6 as visiting captain Geoff Edmunds was tying the home side’s batsmen up in knots with his left arm spin. The wily left armer went on to record another five wicket plus haul, finishing with an amazing spell of 7 for 27 off twelve overs.

Only 34 from Christian made any impact on the Kenilworth bowling, whilst the other wicket takers for the 2nd. XI were Chris Beach with 1 for 11 from six overs and young seamer Ryan Bull with 1 for 14 from seven overs, Aston Manor all out for just 92 in the 39th over.

Kenilworth’s opening batsmen Nathan Chant and Adam Huxford were looking to be positive, the pair adding 34 for the first wicket before Huxford picked out a fielder and was dismissed for 13. The in form Elliott Haynes-Sorrell joined Chant at the crease, the pair going on to post an unbroken stand of 59 for the second wicket, as they pair comfortably saw their side home In 24 overs, finishing on 93 for 1 to win by nine wickets.
