2nds hang in there

2nd XI v. Solihull Municipal

On Saturday 29th August, Kenilworth’s second team travelled to play Solihull Municipal away for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

Municipal were asked to bat first and seamer Ryan Bull struck in the first over, as the home side were 6 for 1. However, the early loss didn’t affect the home side as opener Bissett with a solid 51 and number three Lewis with 39 added 90 for the second wicket in eighteen overs. Yet, two more quick wickets had the home side in a spot of bother at 109 for 4 then 162 for 7.

Spin was doing the damage, with the trio of Chris Beach with 2 for 47 from twelve overs, Charlie Stranks 2 for 39 also from twelve overs and young Tom Skinner taking 2 for 44, along with seamer Ryan Bull who 2 for 40 from ten overs, added to with two smart run outs, the home side were eventually all out for 198 in the 48th over.

Kenilworth, too, lost a wicket in the first over of their innings. After a rain delay for twenty minutes, their innings was reduced to 48 overs.

Kenilworth were finding it hard to get keep the scoreboard moving and never threatened to pull off the win, as only Elliott Haynes-Sorrell with 28, Ben Maney 14 and a cameo 19 from Chris Beach got a double figure score.

Young Matt Dadswell with 9 and Ryan Bull 2 not out, batted through twelve overs together, until Dadswell was out with three overs left, Bull and Tom Skinner 4 not out saw their side to 110 for 8 off their forty eight overs to grind out a losing draw.

There were wickets for Hands who took 3 for 19 off twelve overs and Aziz taking 2 for 30  for Solihull Municipal, Kenilworth taking 6 points for their efforts.
