Studley recover from a bad start

2nd XI v. Studley

On Saturday 26th August, Kenilworth’s second team hosted their Studley counterparts for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

The visitors Studley were asked to bat first and were soon in trouble, as young seamer Ryan Bull had them 9 for 2 along with fellow opening bowler Pete Alty reduced the visitors to 13 for 4. Kenilworth took three more wickets and the visitors were in deep trouble at 53 for 7. But the number eight Moore and number nine Hunt began to repair the damage for Studley, the pair going on to put on an impressive 109 partnership for the eighth wicket, Moore finally out for 54 and Hunt for 51 as Studley ended their innings all out for 170 in 47 overs.

Wicket takers for Kenilworth were Ryan Bull with 3 for 37 off nine overs, Pete Alty 2 for 36 from ten overs, skipper Geoff Edmunds with 3 for 27 off twelve overs, a wicket each for Chris Beach 1 for 25 and Max Howard 1 for 34.

Kenilworth lost their first wicket with the score on 21, then slipped to 25 for 2. Opener Chris Beach and Max Howard put on 39 for the third wicket, before Howard was out for 19. Chris Beach went on to top score for the home side with 43, but when he was dismissed, Kenilworth were in deep trouble at 106 for 8.

Sam Leach, batting at number seven stood firm, and together with opening bowler Ryan Bull, the pair saw their side to stumps, the pair putting on an unbroken stand of 36 for the ninth wicket, Leach finishing unbeaten on 24 and Bull with 19 not out.

Kenilworth finishing on 142 for 8. Hunt continuing his fine game for Studley, taking 4 for 37 and Regan with 2 for 15 off twelve overs, doing the main damage with the ball.

Kenilworth take a losing draw for their efforts.
