2nd XI v. Weoley Hill

On Bank Holiday Monday, Kenilworth’s Second Team hosted Weoley Hill seconds for their Warwickshire Cricket League Division Seven fixture.

On a hot and sun drenched day, visitors Weoley Hill opted to bat first, opening pair Grant and McConvey made a slow but steady start to their sides innings, the pair going on to put on 98 for the first wicket in twenty nine overs, Grant making 32 and McConvey 51.

Batting at five, Procter began to accelerate his sides innings, he played an aggressive innings, before he was bowled by Geoff Edmunds for 58, Smith added 30 not out, Weoley Hill posting 226 for 6 from their fifty overs. Wickets takers for the hosts were, Geoff Edmunds with 3 for 40 from twelve overs and young seamer Max Howard with 3 for 42 from seven overs, Dan Horner affecting two smart stumpings behind the wickets.

After a well earned tea, Kenilworth’s opening pair Nathan Chant (19) and Dan Horner (12) put on 33 for the first wicket in fourteen overs, but from 33 for 0, Kenilworth slumped to 49 for 4. Young Matt Dadswell joined Max Howard at the crease, the pair batted sensibly together, putting on 35 for the sixth wicket before Dadswell was bowled for a fine 25.

The only other double figure scores were Ben Maney with 11 and Max Howard with ten, as Kenilworth limped to 118 for 7 from their fifty overs, as they held out for the losing draw.

For the visitors, Rogers bowled well, taking. 3 for 19. The side have two remaining fixtures and look assured of a mid table finish.
