The sun shines on Solihull Municipal

2nd. XI v. Solihull Municipal

On a glorious sunny Saturday 19th May, Kenilworth’s second eleven hosted their counterparts from Solihull Municipal for their Warwickshire Division Seven fixture.

The visitors won the toss and invited Kenilworth to bat first, but were soon in a load of trouble, losing both openers with the score on just six. Two more wickets left the home side in more trouble at 27 for 4, then 43 for 6.
The home side had no answer to the Municipal bowling attack, two more wickets left them at 55 for 8 and eventually all out for a paltry 67, the runs they did score took a painstaking forty four overs. Only Charlie Stranks with 11 and George Baines with 10 making a double figure score. For Municipal, Acton with a miserly 3 for 9 off twelve overs, Stanley taking 3 for 13 off ten overs and McGrane taking 2 for 27 off twelve overs, proving to be too good for the home side.

Municipal found scoring runs difficult in reply, but despite losing wickets, they were to get over the line, finishing on 68 for 4 in the 22nd over, Goodger with 14 and Edwards with ten not out getting their side over the line to secure an easy 6 wicket win in the sun. Wicket takers for Kenilworth were Charlie Stranks with 2 for 21, Chris Beach 1 for 15 and Tom Skinner 1 for 17.

Solihull Municipal the winners by six wickets, Kenilworth taking just a single point for their efforts.
