Beach and Baker save the side’s blushes.

2nd XI v. Dunlop Stars

(Losing)   DRAW

Dunlop Stars were bowled out for 168 in the 45th over as they visited our Warwick Road Ground on Saturday 14th. July in their Warwickshire Cricket League Division 7 match.

Iklaq with 39 and Javeed 26 not out were the Dunlop Stars top scorers as paceman Ian Baker took 2-41, Joey Poole 2-27 from a very tidy 12  overs, Matt Casey 3-36 from his 9 overs, whilst spinner veteran Chris Beach snapped up 3-23 from a frugal 10 overs. Seven catches were taken by the Kenilworth side in the field, 5 of them by the impressive keeper Elliott Haynes-Sorrell behind the stumps.

In reply, the 2’s now had a maximum of 54 overs – an additional 4 overs – to get to the winning post and they may have wished not to have the extra overs. The side started solidly as Mark Stranks made 29 opening. The Dunlop bowlers then started to make breakthroughs although James Adamson, in mid order, steadied the side with a good 30 which included a 6 and Charlie Stranks 23. However, further wickets fell regularly and it was left to the last pair of Chris Beach 8* and Ian Baker 4* to save the day for the 2nds as they held on for several overs to draw the match, ending the day on 142-9 as all 5 Dunlop Stars’ bowlers took wickets.

Dunlop Stars  168-10     (16 points)      2nd XI              142-9         (9 points)
