Rain ruins the day and saves the hosts

2nd XI v. Bronze

MATCH ABANDONED

The 2nd XI were cruelly let down by the weather as the rain became too heavy when only 3 balls were needed to make a full game which would have seen the side achieve a winning draw as opposed to the match being officially determined as an abandonment.

Bronze had posted 156-10 in a rain interrupted day with Surana making 40, opener Kurusamy 26 and number 10, Ramamoorthy 24 not out.

The 2nd XI had fielded and bowled well to restrict Bronze to that score with Charlie Stranks taking 4-35 from his 11 overs, wily Geoff Edmunds 3-32 from his 11 overs whilst Max Howard took 1-17 and Jono Sparks 1-21 and being involved a well manufactured run out. Dan Horner was in excellent form behind the stumps to claim 4 catches whilst Elliott Haynes-Sorrell snapped up two in the outfield.

In reply, Kenilworth set off after the target with clouds darkening. Dan Horner made an unbeaten 22 and Haynes-Sorrell 13 when the rain came and the sides were taken off with the 2nd XI on 55-3, never to return.

Bronze 156-10  (7 points) (Charlie Stranks 4-35) v Kenilworth 54-3  (8 points) (Dan Horner 22*)

The side ended the season mid table in 7th spot and should have claimed 6th. had the weather been kinder.

Overall, a decent season was had by the side, consisting of old and young players.
